No one could see anyone else or move about for three days. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived.

No one could see anyone else or go anywhere for three days. But all the people of Israel had light where they lived.

Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says:“ My servants will eat, but you will go hungry; my servants will drink, but you will go thirsty; my servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame.My servants will sing out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out from anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit.

The only place it did not hail was the land of Goshen, where the Israelites were.

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.

And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
