No one could see anyone else or move about for three days. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived.

但那天，我子民居住的歌珊卻絲毫不會受攪擾，這樣你就知道我耶和華主宰天下。

但我要把埃及和以色列的牲畜分開，以色列人的牲畜必絲毫無損。』」

雲柱停在埃及軍隊和以色列人的中間，埃及軍隊這邊一片黑暗，以色列人那邊卻有光，雙方整夜都無法接近對方。

起來，發光吧！因為你的光已經來到，耶和華的榮耀已經照在你身上。看啊，黑暗遮蓋大地，幽暗籠罩萬民，但耶和華必照耀你，祂的榮耀必照在你身上。萬國要來就你的光，君王要來就你的曙光。

所以主耶和華說：「看啊，我的僕人必有吃有喝，你們卻要饑渴交加；我的僕人必歡喜，你們卻要受羞辱；我的僕人必歡喜快樂，揚聲歌唱，你們卻要傷心欲絕，嚎啕大哭。

只有以色列人所住的歌珊沒有冰雹。

我要帶領瞎子走他們不認識的路，引導他們走陌生的道。我要把他們面前的黑暗變為光明，坎坷之地變得平坦。我必行這些事，我必不離棄他們。

那時，你們將再度看出義人與惡人之間的區別，事奉上帝者和不事奉上帝者之間的不同。

但你們是蒙揀選的族群，是君尊的祭司，是聖潔的國度，是上帝的子民，因此你們可以宣揚上帝的美德。祂曾呼召你們離開黑暗，進入祂奇妙的光明。

祂把我們從黑暗的權勢下拯救出來，帶進祂愛子的國度裡。

你們的祖先大聲呼求我，我就降下黑暗，把你們和埃及人分開，又用海水淹沒埃及人。你們親眼見過我在埃及的作為。後來，你們在曠野度過了一段漫長的歲月。
