老年人哪，当听这话；这地所有的居民哪，要侧耳而听。在你们的日子，或你们祖先的日子，曾发生过这样的事吗？你们要将这事传与子，子传与孙，孙传与后代。剪虫吃剩的，蝗虫来吃；蝗虫吃剩的，蝻子来吃；蝻子吃剩的，蚂蚱来吃。

你所有的树木和你地里的出产必被蝗虫吃尽了。

遮满地面，甚至地也看不见了。它们要吃那冰雹后所剩，就是留给你们的；并且要吃那生长在田间的一切树木。你的宫殿和你众臣仆的房屋，以及一切埃及人的房屋，都要被蝗虫占满；你祖宗和你祖宗的祖宗在世以来，直到今日都没有见过。’”摩西就转身离开法老出去。

埃及全地必有大大的哀号，这将是空前绝后的。

“这地若有饥荒、瘟疫、焚风、霉烂、蝗虫、蚂蚱，或有仇敌围困这地的城门，无论遭遇什么灾祸疾病，

你们要在锡安吹角，在我的圣山发出警报。这地所有的居民要发颤，因为耶和华的日子快到，已经临近了。那是黑暗、阴森的日子，是密云、乌黑的日子，如同黎明笼罩山岭。有一队蝗虫，又大又强，自古以来没有像这样的，以后直到万代也必没有。它们前面有火吞噬，后面有火焰烧尽。它们未到以前，地如伊甸园，过去以后，却成了荒凉的旷野，没有一样能躲避它们。它们形状如马，奔跑如战马。响声如战车在山顶上跳动，如火焰吞噬碎秸，好像强大的军队摆阵备战。在它们面前，万民伤恸，脸都变色。它们如勇士奔跑，如战士攀登城墙，各行于自己的道路，不乱队伍；它们并不彼此推挤，各行于自己的大道，冲过防御，并不停止。它们蹦上城，跳上墙，爬上房屋，从窗户进来，如同盗贼。在它们面前，地动天摇，日月昏暗，星宿无光。耶和华在他的军旅前出声，他的队伍庞大，遵行他命令的强盛。耶和华的日子大而可畏，谁能当得起呢？

他一吩咐，就有蝗虫蝻子上来，不计其数，吃光他们地上各样的菜蔬，吞尽他们田地的出产。
