“看哪，这就是我和你所立的约：你要作多国的父。你的名不要再叫亚伯兰，要叫亚伯拉罕，因为我已经立了你作万国的父。我要使你极其昌盛，国度因你而立，君王必从你而出。

你的后裔必像地面的灰尘那么多；你必向东、南、西、北扩展；地上的万族必因你和你的后裔得福。

“神给亚伯拉罕的应许快要实现的时候，以色列人在埃及人口繁盛增多；但是，到了另一位不认识约瑟的君王兴起统治埃及的时候，

神说：“水要滋长生物；地上和天空之中，要有雀鸟飞翔！”

我要使你的后裔好像地上灰尘那么多；若能数算地上的灰尘，才能数算你的后裔。

耶和华使他的子民生育众多，使他们比他们的敌人更强盛。

以色列人从兰塞起行到疏割去，除了小孩子以外，步行的男人约有六十万。

于是领他到外面去，说：“你向天观看，数点众星，看你能不能把它们数得清楚。”又对他说：“你的后裔将要这样众多。”

我必使你的后裔增多，好像天上的星那样多；我必把这全地都赐给你的后裔；地上的万国都必因你的后裔得福。

那救我脱离一切祸患的使者，赐福给这两个童子。愿我的名，我祖亚伯拉罕和以撒的名，藉着他们得以流传；愿他们在地上生养众多。”
