Pharaoh then commanded all his people,“ You must throw every son born to the Hebrews into the Nile, but let every daughter live.”

For they can’t sleep unless they have done what is evil; they are robbed of sleep unless they make someone stumble.

At the end of two years Pharaoh had a dream: He was standing beside the Nile,

So the LORD said to Moses,“ Tell Aaron: Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt— over their rivers, canals, ponds, and all their water reservoirs— and they will become blood. There will be blood throughout the land of Egypt, even in wooden and stone containers.”Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD had commanded; in the sight of Pharaoh and his officials, he raised the staff and struck the water in the Nile, and all the water in the Nile was turned to blood.The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad the Egyptians could not drink water from it. There was blood throughout the land of Egypt.

The third poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of water, and they became blood.I heard the angel of the waters say, You are just, the Holy One, who is and who was, because you have passed judgment on these things.Because they poured out the blood of the saints and the prophets, you have given them blood to drink; they deserve it!

because their feet run toward evil and they hurry to shed blood.

Fury is cruel, and anger a flood, but who can withstand jealousy?
