They made their lives bitter with harsh labor in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the fields; in all their harsh labor the Egyptians worked them ruthlessly.

The people suffered because of their hard labor. The slave drivers forced them to work with bricks and mud. And they made them do all kinds of work in the fields. The Egyptians didn’t show them any pity at all. They made them work very hard.

摩西以此言告以色列族、彼因徵役煩苛、志昏氣餒、置若罔聞。

我祖往埃及、居彼日久、埃及人以患難加於我祖、爰及我儕、

歷年既久、埃及王薨、以色列族因服役良苦、太息號呼、聲聞於上帝。

陰謀我族、困苦我祖、使棄其嬰、無俾遺種、

詔曰、爾任負戴、余弛之兮、爾攜筐筥、余釋之兮、

我民在埃及者、我見其苦、常聞嘅歎之聲、故臨拯之、往哉、我遣爾之埃及也、

為強暴故拘繫者、當縱之自逸、釋人重負、伸人屈抑、折人衡軛、禁食若此、我何不喜。

厥後此族陶瓦、毋仍給蒭、使往自斂。所陶之瓦、其數仍如疇昔、毋容少減。彼憚服役、故號呼曰、容我往祭我之上帝。當倍其工、使之操作、無胥動以浮言。督役者與族長出、告以色列族曰、法老命不給爾蒭。爾往隨在斂之、工毋少減。以色列族散往、遍於埃及、斂草芥以代蒭。督役者促之曰、當日竣其工、與昔有蒭無異。法老所委之督、撻以色列族長、曰、爾所陶瓦、昔有其數、今不能竣、曷故。○以色列族長籲法老曰、曷待僕若是。不給僕以蒭、而使陶瓦、僕又被撻、咎歸王臣。曰、爾怠矣、爾怠矣、故云、容我往祭耶和華。爾往操作、不給爾蒭、所陶之瓦、其數當竣。以色列族長聞日所陶瓦、數毋容減、則知害及乎己。以色列族長覲法老而出、見摩西亞倫竚立於途、告之曰、爾使法老及群臣、無不惡我授刃殺我、願耶和華鑒察、而伸我冤。○

惟爾敵人、素使爾曲躬俯伏、俟其踰越而行、若遨遊於通衢、我必使彼飲焉。

曰、毋稱我拿阿米、乃稱我馬喇、蓋至能者困苦我也。

遺於子孫、恆為爾僕、惟以色列人為爾宗族、勿治以嚴。

我耶和華、爾之上帝、導爾出埃及、脫爾於賤役者、

埃及人薄待我儕、困苦相加、徵役煩苛。

今我民無因見虜、強暴之人、恆凟我名、譁然不靖、我將何以處之。

耶和華曰、爾當知爾苗裔必旅於異邦、服役良苦、歷四百年。

昔爾民卧於羊牢之間、其後可比之鴿、其翮如銀、其羽若金兮、

邑將被圍、當鑿汲道、修城垣、搗土使堅、設陶造瓦、

我萬有之主耶和華曰、以色列族、暨猶大家、為人暴虐、見擄於敵、不復釋之。我萬有之主耶和華、奮其大能、加以拯救、必伸其冤、歸於福地、使巴比倫人、戰慄不勝。

歲必偕居、待若傭人、毋治以嚴。

勿治以嚴、宜畏爾之上帝。

耶和華導爾出埃及、如脫冶爐、以爾為所得之民、即以今日之事為證。

爾去我民之皮、而噬其肉、折其骨割之為臠、投之鼎鑊、
