耶和華使他的子民生養眾多，使他們比敵人更強盛。

我們也知道，神使萬事相輔相成，是為了愛神之人的益處，就是那些按照他的心意蒙召之人的益處。

這些人非常惱怒，因為使徒們教導民眾，藉著耶穌傳講從死人中復活的事。於是他們下手捉拿了彼得和約翰。因為天已經晚了，就把他們關在監裡，直到第二天。然而聽了這話語的人中，有許多人相信了；男人的數目約有五千。

因為主所愛的人，主都管教；他所接納的每一個兒子，他都鞭打。」對管教的事，你們要忍受；神對待你們，就像對待兒女那樣。到底哪一個兒子不受父親的管教呢？大家都有份受管教；你們如果沒有受管教，那麼，你們就是私生子，不是兒子了。再者，我們有肉身的父親來管教我們，我們尚且敬重他們，何況對這位萬靈之父，我們難道不更要服從他而活著嗎？肉身的父親在短暫的日子裡，固然照著自己的意思來管教我們；但萬靈之父是為了我們的益處管教我們，好使我們在他的聖潔上有份。不過所有的管教，當時雖然不覺得是愉快的事，反覺得是憂傷的事，而後來卻為那些由此受到操練的人，結出平安和義行的果子。

說：「我們不是嚴厲地吩咐你們，不可奉這個人的名教導人嗎？可是看哪，你們把你們的教導傳遍了耶路撒冷，又想把這個人的血歸到我們身上。」彼得和使徒們回答說：「我們必須順從神過於順從人。你們掛在木頭上殺害的耶穌，我們祖先的神已經使他復活了。神把這一位高舉在自己右邊做元首、做救主，為了將悔改的心賜給以色列，使罪得赦免。我們就是這些事的見證人。神所賜給那些順從他之人的聖靈也一同做見證。」議會的人聽了，勃然大怒，就想要殺了他們。

於是法利賽人互相說：「可見你們真沒用！看，這世界都跟隨他去了。」

任何的智慧、聰慧和謀略，都無法在耶和華面前站立得住。

怒火雖凶殘，怒氣如洪流，但在嫉妒面前，誰能站立得住呢？
