耶和華使他的子民生育眾多，使他們比他們的敵人更強盛。

我們知道，為了愛神的人，就是按他旨意蒙召的人的益處，萬事都一同效力。

因為使徒教訓群眾，並且傳揚耶穌從死人中復活，他們就非常惱怒，於是下手拿住使徒。那時天已經晚了，就把他們拘留到第二天。然而有許多聽道的人信了，男人的數目，約有五千。

他對自己的人民說：“看哪，以色列民比我們眾多強盛。

因為主所愛的，他必管教，他又鞭打所收納的每一個兒子。”為了接受管教，你們要忍受，因為神待你們好像待兒子一樣；哪有兒子不受父親管教的呢？作兒子的都受過管教。如果你們沒有受管教，就是私生子，不是兒子了。還有，肉身的父親管教我們，我們尚且敬重他們；何況那萬靈的父，我們不是更要順服他而得生嗎？肉身的父親照著自己的意思管教我們，只有短暫的日子；唯有神管教我們，是為著我們的好處，使我們在他的聖潔上有分。但是一切管教，在當時似乎不覺得快樂，反覺得痛苦；後來卻為那些經過這種操練的人，結出平安的果子來，就是義。

“我們嚴厲地吩咐過你們，不准再奉這名教導。看，你們卻把你們的道理傳遍了耶路撒冷，想要把流這人的血的責任推到我們身上。”彼得和眾使徒回答：“服從神過於服從人，是應當的。你們掛在木頭上親手殺害的耶穌，我們祖先的神已經使他復活了。神把他高舉在自己的右邊，作元首作救主，把悔改的心賜給了以色列人，使他們罪得赦免。我們為這些事作證，神賜給順從的人的聖靈也為這些事作證。”公議會的人聽了，非常惱怒，就想要殺他們。

於是法利賽人彼此說：“你們看，你們都是徒勞無功，世人都去跟隨他了！”

任何智慧、聰明、謀略都不能敵擋耶和華。

煩惱殺死愚昧人，激情害死愚蒙人。

烈怒雖然兇殘，暴怒又好像狂瀾，人還可以忍受；但面對嫉妒，誰能站立得住呢？
