所以你要對以色列人說：「我永恆主；我要領你們從埃及人所加的重擔下出來；我要援救你們脫離他們所派作的苦工；我要用伸出的膀臂藉着大判罰贖救你們。我要拿你們當作我的子民；我要做你們的上帝；你們要認識我是永恆主、你們的上帝、是領你們從埃及人所加的重擔下出來的。

以色列人的頭目就來、向法老哀叫說：『你為甚麼這樣待你僕人呢？

他們從這國游到那國，從一族民遊到另一族民；

我們的祖宗下到埃及，我們在埃及住了許多年日；埃及人惡待我們和我們的祖宗；

埃及王對他們說：『摩西、亞倫，你們為甚麼使人民懶惰不作工呢？去挑你們的擔子。』法老說：『看哪，這地的人民如今很多，你們竟叫他們歇下擔子。』就在那一天、法老就吩咐民間的督工和頭目說：

又建造所羅門所有的一切貯藏城、屯車城、駿馬城、和所羅門愛好的建築物、就是他在耶路撒冷、和利巴嫩、他統治的各地所愛建造的。
