以是月是日、猶大人免敵之擾、轉憂為喜、轉戚為愉、守為佳日、於此二日、筵宴喜樂、互相饋遺、賙恤貧乏、

因此月此日、猶大人脫於仇敵而得安、憂轉為喜、凶轉為吉、故當守此二日、設筵喜樂、彼此餽禮、周濟貧乏、

as the time when the Jews got relief from their enemies, and as the month when their sorrow was turned into joy and their mourning into a day of celebration. He wrote them to observe the days as days of feasting and joy and giving presents of food to one another and gifts to the poor.

Mordecai told the Jews to celebrate the time when they got rest from their enemies. That was the month when their sadness was turned into joy. It was when their weeping turned into a day for celebrating. He wrote the letters to celebrate those days as times of joy. He wanted the people to enjoy good food. He told them to give presents of food to one another. He also wanted them to give gifts to people who were poor.

在耶和華使你脫離痛苦、煩擾，脫離被迫所服的繁重勞役，得享安息的日子裡，

因這緣故，住在鄉下村鎮的猶太人，守亞達月十四日為喜樂、宴席、慶祝的日子，彼此送食物。

只是要我們記得窮人，而這一點也正是我一向努力做的。

「我確確實實地告訴你們：你們將會痛哭、哀號，這世界反而會喜樂；你們將會憂傷，然而你們的憂傷要變成喜樂。婦人生產的時候會有憂慮，因為她的時候到了；但是生了孩子以後，她就因著有人出生到世上的喜樂，而不再記住那痛苦了。這樣，你們現在雖然也有憂慮，但是我會再見到你們，你們心裡將喜樂，並且沒有人能奪去你們的喜樂。

不過你們當把裡面的施捨給人，看哪，對你們來說一切就都潔淨了。

一月十三日，王的書記們被召來，照著哈曼所吩咐的一切，給王的行政官們、管理各省的省長和各民族的首領下旨，用各省的文字給各個省，用各民族的語言給各個民族，以亞哈隨魯王的名義下旨，又用王的印戒封印。詔書藉著信使們的手傳送給王的各省：要各省在十二月（亞達月）十三日，一天之內，把所有的猶太人，無論老少、孩童或婦女，都除滅、擊殺、消滅，並且掠奪他們的財物。

所有信了的人都在一起，凡物共有，他們變賣財產和產業，按照各人的需要分給大家。他們同心合意，不但天天恆切地在聖殿聚集，還在各家各戶掰餅。他們懷著喜樂和誠懇的心用飯，

我的靈魂哪，你要頌讚耶和華！不要忘記他的一切恩惠——

悲傷的人是蒙福的，因為他們將受到安慰。

到那日，你必說：「耶和華啊，我要稱謝你！雖然你曾對我發怒，但你的怒氣已經轉消，你又安慰了我。看哪！神是我的救恩，我依靠他，並不懼怕；因為神耶和華是我的力量、我的頌歌，他也成了我的救恩。」
