as the time when the Jews got relief from their enemies, and as the month when their sorrow was turned into joy and their mourning into a day of celebration. He wrote them to observe the days as days of feasting and joy and giving presents of food to one another and gifts to the poor.

Mordecai told the Jews to celebrate the time when they got rest from their enemies. That was the month when their sadness was turned into joy. It was when their weeping turned into a day for celebrating. He wrote the letters to celebrate those days as times of joy. He wanted the people to enjoy good food. He told them to give presents of food to one another. He also wanted them to give gifts to people who were poor.

在耶和华使你脱离痛苦、烦扰，脱离被迫做的苛役，得享安息的日子里，

因这缘故，住在乡下村镇的犹太人，守亚达月十四日为喜乐、宴席、庆祝的日子，彼此送食物。

只是要我们记得穷人，而这一点也正是我一向努力做的。

“我确确实实地告诉你们：你们将会痛哭、哀号，这世界反而会喜乐；你们将会忧伤，然而你们的忧伤要变成喜乐。妇人生产的时候会有忧虑，因为她的时候到了；但是生了孩子以后，她就因着有人出生到世上的喜乐，而不再记住那痛苦了。这样，你们现在虽然也有忧虑，但是我会再见到你们，你们心里将喜乐，并且没有人能夺去你们的喜乐。

不过你们当把里面的施舍给人，看哪，对你们来说一切就都洁净了。

一月十三日，王的书记们被召来，照着哈曼所吩咐的一切，给王的行政官们、管理各省的省长和各民族的首领下旨，用各省的文字给各个省，用各民族的语言给各个民族，以亚哈随鲁王的名义下旨，又用王的印戒封印。诏书藉着信使们的手传送给王的各省：要各省在十二月（亚达月）十三日，一天之内，把所有的犹太人，无论老少、孩童或妇女，都除灭、击杀、消灭，并且掠夺他们的财物。

所有信了的人都在一起，凡物共有，他们变卖财产和产业，按照各人的需要分给大家。他们同心合意，不但天天恒切地在圣殿聚集，还在各家各户掰饼。他们怀着喜乐和诚恳的心用饭，

我的灵魂哪，你要颂赞耶和华！不要忘记他的一切恩惠——

悲伤的人是蒙福的，因为他们将受到安慰。

到那日，你必说：“耶和华啊，我要称谢你！虽然你曾对我发怒，但你的怒气已经转消，你又安慰了我。看哪！神是我的救恩，我依靠他，并不惧怕；因为神耶和华是我的力量、我的颂歌，他也成了我的救恩。”
