Mordecai told the Jews to celebrate the time when they got rest from their enemies. That was the month when their sadness was turned into joy. It was when their weeping turned into a day for celebrating. He wrote the letters to celebrate those days as times of joy. He wanted the people to enjoy good food. He told them to give presents of food to one another. He also wanted them to give gifts to people who were poor.

因此，住在鄉村的猶太人都以亞達月十四日為設宴歡慶的節日，並互贈禮物。

他們只要求我們照顧那些貧困的人，這正是我一向熱衷的事。

我實實在在地告訴你們，你們將痛哭、哀號，世人卻要歡喜；你們將憂愁，然而你們的憂愁將變為喜樂。婦人分娩時都會痛苦不已，但孩子生下來後，她就會因為這世界添了一個新生命而充滿歡樂，忘掉了生產的痛苦。同樣，現在你們有憂愁，但到我再見你們的時候，你們的心必歡喜，而且這份喜樂是誰也奪不去的。

只要你們發自內心地去施捨，一切對你們都是潔淨的。

一月十三日，王的書記被召來，他們以亞哈隨魯王的名義，照哈曼的吩咐，用各省的文字和各族的語言寫諭旨，用王的戒指蓋印，送交各總督、各省省長和各族首領。諭旨由信差送到王的各省，限令在一天之內，即十二月，也就是亞達月十三日，把猶太人的男女老少全部剷除、殺光、滅盡，並奪取他們的財物。

信徒聚在一起，共用所有的東西。他們把田產家業變賣了，按照各人的需要把錢分給大家。他們天天同心合意地聚集在聖殿裡敬拜上帝，又在各人家中擘餅聚會，以歡喜、慷慨的心分享食物，

我的心啊，要稱頌耶和華，不要忘記祂的一切恩惠。

摩西對百姓說：「你們要記住離開埃及的這一天，因為耶和華用大能的手把你們從受奴役的地方解救出來。不可吃帶酵的食物。你們是在亞筆月的這一天從埃及出來的，將來耶和華帶領你們進入迦南以後，你們每逢此月都要為祂守節期。那裡現在住著迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、希未人和耶布斯人。耶和華已經向你們祖先起誓，應許賜給你們那奶蜜之鄉。在節期的七天之內，你們只可以吃無酵餅，到了第七天，你們要為耶和華守節期。七天之內要吃無酵餅，你們境內不得有酵或是帶酵的東西。那時，要告訴你們的子孫，『這節期是紀念我們離開埃及時耶和華為我們所做的一切。』

哀慟的人有福了，因為他們必得安慰。

尼希米又說：「你們去吃肥美的肉，喝甘甜的酒，並分些給一無所有的人，因為今天是我們主的聖日。不要悲傷，因為從耶和華而來的喜樂就是你們的力量。」利未人使全體民眾安靜，說：「請安靜，因為今天是聖日。不要悲傷。」於是，全體民眾去吃喝，並分給他人，非常歡喜，因為他們明白了教導給他們的話。

到那日，你們必歌唱：「耶和華啊，我要讚美你！你雖然曾向我發怒，但你的怒氣已經止息，你還安慰了我。「看啊，上帝是我的拯救，我要倚靠祂，不會懼怕。耶和華上帝是我的力量，是我的詩歌，祂成了我的拯救者。」
