Mordecai wrote down these events. He sent letters to all the Jews all through the territories of King Xerxes. It didn’t matter whether the Jews lived nearby or far away.

Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven.”

Then on the thirteenth day of the first month the royal secretaries were summoned. They wrote out in the script of each province and in the language of each people all Haman’s orders to the king’s satraps, the governors of the various provinces and the nobles of the various peoples. These were written in the name of King Xerxes himself and sealed with his own ring.

“ Now write down this song and teach it to the Israelites and have them sing it, so that it may be a witness for me against them.When I have brought them into the land flowing with milk and honey, the land I promised on oath to their ancestors, and when they eat their fill and thrive, they will turn to other gods and worship them, rejecting me and breaking my covenant.And when many disasters and calamities come on them, this song will testify against them, because it will not be forgotten by their descendants. I know what they are disposed to do, even before I bring them into the land I promised them on oath.”So Moses wrote down this song that day and taught it to the Israelites.

This is what happened during the time of Xerxes, the Xerxes who ruled over 127 provinces stretching from India to Cush:

At once the royal secretaries were summoned— on the twenty-third day of the third month, the month of Sivan. They wrote out all Mordecai’s orders to the Jews, and to the satraps, governors and nobles of the 127 provinces stretching from India to Cush. These orders were written in the script of each province and the language of each people and also to the Jews in their own script and language.

One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty— and I will meditate on your wonderful works.They tell of the power of your awesome works— and I will proclaim your great deeds.They celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.All your works praise you, Lord; your faithful people extol you.They tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might,so that all people may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
