王的谕旨所到的各省各城，犹大人都欢喜快乐，设摆筵宴，以那日为吉日。那国的人民，有许多因惧怕犹大人，就入了犹大籍。

谕旨中，王准各省各城的犹大人在一日之间，十二月，就是亚达月十三日，聚集保护性命，剪除杀戮灭绝那要攻击犹大人的一切仇敌和他们的妻子儿女，夺取他们的财为掠物。

并且我的舌头必终日讲论你的公义，因为那些谋害我的人已经蒙羞受辱了。

愿那与我性命为敌的，羞愧被灭；愿那谋害我的，受辱蒙羞。

列国的人民哪，任凭你们喧嚷，终必破坏；远方的众人哪，当侧耳而听！任凭你们束起腰来，终必破坏；你们束起腰来，终必破坏。

他们便起行前往。神使那周围城邑的人都甚惊惧，就不追赶雅各的众子了。

这十人都是哈米大他的孙子、犹大人仇敌哈曼的儿子。犹大人却没有下手夺取财物。

对他们说：“我知道耶和华已经把这地赐给你们，并且因你们的缘故我们都惊慌了。这地的一切居民在你们面前心都消化了；

因为耶和华的意思是要使他们心里刚硬，来与以色列人争战，好叫他们尽被杀灭，不蒙怜悯，正如耶和华所吩咐摩西的。

凡你所到的地方，我要使那里的众民在你面前惊骇，扰乱，又要使你一切仇敌转背逃跑。

亚达月十四日，书珊的犹大人又聚集在书珊，杀了三百人，却没有下手夺取财物。在王各省其余的犹大人也都聚集保护性命，杀了恨他们的人七万五千，却没有下手夺取财物。这样，就脱离仇敌，得享平安。亚达月十三日，行了这事；十四日安息，以这日为设筵欢乐的日子。但书珊的犹大人，这十三日、十四日聚集杀戮仇敌；十五日安息，以这日为设筵欢乐的日子。

但希实本王西宏不容我们从他那里经过；因为耶和华你的神使他心中刚硬，性情顽梗，为要将他交在你手中，像今日一样。
