這十人是猶太人的仇敵哈曼的兒子、哈米大他的孫子。但猶太人沒有動他們的財物。

諭旨上說，王准許各城的猶太人在十二月，即亞達月十三日，聚集起來自衛，剷除、殺光、滅盡各族各省攻擊他們的仇敵及其兒女、妻子，奪取仇敵的財物。

耶和華與我同在，幫助我，我必看見那些恨我的人一敗塗地。投靠耶和華勝過倚靠人。投靠耶和華勝過倚靠權貴。列國圍住我，但我靠著耶和華消滅了他們。他們四面圍住我，但我靠著耶和華消滅了他們。他們如蜜蜂圍住我，然而他們必像燃燒的荊棘，轉瞬消逝；我靠著耶和華必消滅他們。

王其他各省的猶太人也都聚集起來自衛，得以脫離仇敵。他們殺了七萬五千個仇敵，但沒有動他們的財物。

以斯帖回答說：「王若願意，就請恩准書珊城的猶太人明天仍執行今天的諭旨，並把哈曼十個兒子的屍體吊在木架上。」

不要貪愛錢財，要對自己擁有的知足，因為上帝說過：「我永不撇下你，也不離棄你。」

猶太人在亞哈隨魯王的各省各城聚集起來，攻擊那些要害他們的人，無人能抵擋他們，因為各族都懼怕他們。
