When Mordecai learned about all that had been done, he tore his clothes, put on burlap and ashes, and went out into the city, crying with a loud and bitter wail.He went as far as the gate of the palace, for no one was allowed to enter the palace gate while wearing clothes of mourning.And as news of the king’s decree reached all the provinces, there was great mourning among the Jews. But the people of God will sing a song of joy, like the songs at the holy festivals. You will be filled with joy, as when a flutist leads a group of pilgrims to Jerusalem, the mountain of the Lord— to the Rock of Israel.And the Lord will make his majestic voice heard. He will display the strength of his mighty arm. It will descend with devouring flames, with cloudbursts, thunderstorms, and huge hailstones.

“ Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.”

Light shines in the darkness for the godly. They are generous, compassionate, and righteous.

Those who have been ransomed by the Lord will return. They will enter Jerusalem singing, crowned with everlasting joy. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be filled with joy and gladness.

The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.But the way of the wicked is like total darkness. They have no idea what they are stumbling over.
