詔書由跑文書的人經手送到王的各省，說要在一日之間、在十二月、就是亞達月、十三日，將所有的猶大人、無論老少幼小或婦女、全都消滅屠殺滅盡，並且奪取他們的資財作為掠物。

事實上我們為你的緣故是終日不斷地被殺，被看如將宰的羊呢。主啊，奮發哦！為甚麼儘睡呢？醒起哦！不要永久屏棄呀！

你住在我這裏吧；不要懼怕；因為尋索你性命的正在尋索我性命呢；在我這裏、你就可得保全。』

猶大對弟兄們說：『我們殺了我們的兄弟，把他的血掩蓋了，有甚麼益處呢？來，我們把他賣給以實瑪利人；不可下手害他，因為他是我們的兄弟，我們的骨肉。』弟兄們就聽從了他。有些作生意的米甸人從那裏經過，哥哥們把約瑟從坑裏拉上來，把約瑟賣給以實瑪利人，賣二十錠銀子；以實瑪利人就把約瑟帶到埃及去了。

以斯帖說：『敵人、仇敵、就是哈曼這個壞人！』哈曼在王和王后面前立即驚惶失措。

末底改將他所遭遇的一切事，以及哈曼為了要殺滅猶大人所答應要秤交王府庫的銀子準確的數目，都告訴了他。末底改也將書珊宮堡所頒布要除滅猶大人的詔書勅令本子交給哈他革，要給以斯帖看，又要給他說明，並吩咐她進去見王，向王乞哀求憐，為本族之民在王面前懇求。

永恆主這麼說：『以色列三番四次地悖逆，我必不收回成命，因為他們為了銀子而出賣義人，為了一雙鞋而出賣窮人。

其實我們的骨肉就等於我們族弟兄的骨肉，我們的兒女就等於他們的兒女；然而你看，我們竟在強迫着自己的兒女去做奴婢呢；而我們的女兒已有被強迫了的，我們的手卻無能為力，因為我們的田地和葡萄園已屬於別人了。』

現在你們是被咒詛的了；你們中間必不斷有人做奴隸、給我的上帝的殿做撿柴打水的人。』
