For I and my people have been sold to be destroyed, killed and annihilated. If we had merely been sold as male and female slaves, I would have kept quiet, because no such distress would justify disturbing the king.”

王若願意，就請降旨消滅他們。我願捐三百四十五噸銀子交給管理國事的人，納入王的庫房。」

耶和華必沿著我曾說你們再不會走的路線，用船把你們送回埃及。你們將在那裡賣身做敵人的僕婢，卻無人買。」

諭旨由信差送到王的各省，限令在一天之內，即十二月，也就是亞達月十三日，把猶太人的男女老少全部剷除、殺光、滅盡，並奪取他們的財物。

諭旨上說，王准許各城的猶太人在十二月，即亞達月十三日，聚集起來自衛，剷除、殺光、滅盡各族各省攻擊他們的仇敵及其兒女、妻子，奪取仇敵的財物。

並把猶大和耶路撒冷的居民賣給希臘人，使他們遠離家鄉。

為了你，我們終日出生入死，被視為待宰的羊。主啊，求你醒來，你為何沉睡？求你起來，不要永遠丟棄我們。

你就放心留在我這裡，不要害怕，誰想殺你，就是想殺我。你在我這裡很安全。」

猶大對他的眾弟兄說：「我們殺死弟弟、掩蓋罪行有什麼益處呢？不如把他賣給以實瑪利人，不要下手害他，他畢竟是我們的弟弟，我們的骨肉啊！」其他弟兄都贊成他的意見。於是，那些米甸商人經過的時候，他們就把約瑟從井裡拉上來，以二百二十克銀子的價錢把他賣給了以實瑪利人。這些商人把他帶到埃及去了。

以斯帖回答說：「敵人和仇家就是這惡人哈曼！」哈曼在王和王后面前十分驚恐。

末底改便將自己的遭遇及哈曼為滅絕猶太人而捐入國庫的銀子數目都告訴了他。末底改還把一份在書珊城頒佈的要消滅猶太人的諭旨抄本交給哈他革，讓他給以斯帖看，並囑咐她去見王，為自己的同胞向王求情。

耶和華說：「以色列人三番四次地犯罪，我必不收回對他們的懲罰，因為他們為了銀子賣掉義人，為了一雙鞋子賣掉窮人。

我們和他們是同胞，我們的孩子就像他們的孩子。但現在我們的兒女要被迫成為僕婢，甚至我們的女兒有些已經淪為奴婢。我們卻無能為力，因為我們的田地和葡萄園已經歸別人了。」

因此，你們是受咒詛的。你們要永遠做奴僕，為我上帝的殿劈柴挑水。」
