and told Zeresh his wife and all his friends everything that had happened to him. His advisers and his wife Zeresh said to him,“ Since Mordecai, before whom your downfall has started, is of Jewish origin, you cannot stand against him— you will surely come to ruin!”

He told his wife Zeresh everything that had happened to him. He also told all his friends. His advisers and his wife Zeresh spoke to him. They said,“ Your fall from power started with Mordecai. He’s a Jew. So now you can’t stand up against him. You are going to be destroyed!”

And Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and his wife Zeresh said to him,“ If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of the Jewish people, you will not overcome him but will surely fall before him.”

When Haman told his wife, Zeresh, and all his friends what had happened, his wise advisers and his wife said,“ Since Mordecai— this man who has humiliated you— is of Jewish birth, you will never succeed in your plans against him. It will be fatal to continue opposing him.”

And Haman recounted unto Zeresh his wife and all his friends everything that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai, before whom thou hast begun to fall, be of the seed of the Jews, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.

Haman then related to his wife Zeresh and to all his friends everything that had happened to him. These wise men, along with his wife Zeresh, said to him,“ If indeed this Mordecai before whom you have begun to fall is Jewish, you will not prevail against him. No, you will surely fall before him!”

Haman recounted to Zeresh his wife and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and Zeresh his wife said to him,“ If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of Jewish descent, you will not prevail against him, but you will surely fall before him.”

行為完全的，必蒙拯救；行事狡詐的，必立刻跌倒。

誰是智慧人，讓他明白這些事吧！誰是有見識的人，讓他領會這一切吧！因為耶和華的道路是正直的，義人要行在其中，惡人卻必在其上絆倒。

三天之內，法老必砍下你的頭來，把你掛在木頭上，必有飛鳥來吃你身上的肉。”

因此，王大發烈怒，下令殺絕巴比倫所有的智慧人。

哈曼忍住怒氣，回家去了，就派人去請他的朋友和妻子細利斯來。哈曼把他的富貴榮華、兒女的眾多，以及王怎樣使他尊大，怎樣抬舉他在王的眾領袖和眾臣僕之上的一切事，都數說給他們聽。哈曼又說：“王后以斯帖除我以外，沒有邀請別人與王一同去赴她預備的筵席；明天又邀請我與王一同到她那裡去赴席。只是每逢我看見坐在朝門那裡的猶大人末底改的時候，這一切對我都沒有多大的意思。”他的妻子細利斯和他所有的朋友都對他說：“叫人立一個二十二公尺高的木架，明早求王，把末底改掛在上面，然後你可以歡歡喜喜地與王一同赴筵席了。”這話使哈曼很滿意，就叫人做了木架。

這文字的意思是這樣：‘彌尼’就是神已數算了你國度的年日，使國終止；‘提客勒’就是你被稱在天平上，顯出你的缺欠；‘毘勒斯’（“毘勒斯”即“烏法珥新”的單數式）就是你的國要分裂，歸給瑪代人和波斯人。”

並且耶和華必把以色列和你一起都交在非利士人手裡；明天你和你的兒子們都要和我一起了。耶和華必把以色列的軍隊交在非利士人手裡。”掃羅立刻全身仆倒在地上，他因撒母耳的話，非常懼怕，又因為他已經一日一夜沒有吃飯，所以一點氣力也沒有。

到了早晨，法老心裡煩亂，就派人去把埃及所有的術士和智慧人都召了來；法老把自己的夢告訴他們，但是沒有人能替法老解夢。

“像這樣的話，我聽了很多；你們都是叫人愁煩的安慰者。

“看哪！我要使耶路撒冷成為令周圍萬族喝醉的杯；耶路撒冷被圍困的時候，猶大也必受到攻擊。到那日，我要使耶路撒冷對萬族來說像一塊沉重的石頭，舉起它的必受重傷；地上的列國必聚集起來攻擊耶路撒冷。

患難與困苦使他驚惶，又勝過他，像君王預備上陣攻擊一樣。
