And Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and his wife Zeresh said to him,“ If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of the Jewish people, you will not overcome him but will surely fall before him.”

When Haman told his wife, Zeresh, and all his friends what had happened, his wise advisers and his wife said,“ Since Mordecai— this man who has humiliated you— is of Jewish birth, you will never succeed in your plans against him. It will be fatal to continue opposing him.”

Haman then related to his wife Zeresh and to all his friends everything that had happened to him. These wise men, along with his wife Zeresh, said to him,“ If indeed this Mordecai before whom you have begun to fall is Jewish, you will not prevail against him. No, you will surely fall before him!”

行为完全的，必蒙拯救；行事狡诈的，必立刻跌倒。

谁是智慧人，让他明白这些事吧！谁是有见识的人，让他领会这一切吧！因为耶和华的道路是正直的，义人要行在其中，恶人却必在其上绊倒。

三天之内，法老必砍下你的头来，把你挂在木头上，必有飞鸟来吃你身上的肉。”

因此，王大发烈怒，下令杀绝巴比伦所有的智慧人。

哈曼忍住怒气，回家去了，就派人去请他的朋友和妻子细利斯来。哈曼把他的富贵荣华、儿女的众多，以及王怎样使他尊大，怎样抬举他在王的众领袖和众臣仆之上的一切事，都数说给他们听。哈曼又说：“王后以斯帖除我以外，没有邀请别人与王一同去赴她预备的筵席；明天又邀请我与王一同到她那里去赴席。只是每逢我看见坐在朝门那里的犹大人末底改的时候，这一切对我都没有多大的意思。”他的妻子细利斯和他所有的朋友都对他说：“叫人立一个二十二公尺高的木架，明早求王，把末底改挂在上面，然后你可以欢欢喜喜地与王一同赴筵席了。”这话使哈曼很满意，就叫人做了木架。

这文字的意思是这样：‘弥尼’就是神已数算了你国度的年日，使国终止；‘提客勒’就是你被称在天平上，显出你的缺欠；‘毗勒斯’（“毗勒斯”即“乌法珥新”的单数式）就是你的国要分裂，归给玛代人和波斯人。”

并且耶和华必把以色列和你一起都交在非利士人手里；明天你和你的儿子们都要和我一起了。耶和华必把以色列的军队交在非利士人手里。”扫罗立刻全身仆倒在地上，他因撒母耳的话，非常惧怕，又因为他已经一日一夜没有吃饭，所以一点气力也没有。

到了早晨，法老心里烦乱，就派人去把埃及所有的术士和智慧人都召了来；法老把自己的梦告诉他们，但是没有人能替法老解梦。

“像这样的话，我听了很多；你们都是叫人愁烦的安慰者。

“看哪！我要使耶路撒冷成为令周围万族喝醉的杯；耶路撒冷被围困的时候，犹大也必受到攻击。到那日，我要使耶路撒冷对万族来说像一块沉重的石头，举起它的必受重伤；地上的列国必聚集起来攻击耶路撒冷。

患难与困苦使他惊惶，又胜过他，像君王预备上阵攻击一样。
