That day Haman was happy. So he left the palace in a good mood. But then he saw Mordecai at the palace gate. He noticed that Mordecai didn’t stand up when he walked by. In fact, Mordecai didn’t have any respect for him at all. So he was very angry with him.

Haman went out that day happy and in high spirits. But when he saw Mordecai at the king’s gate and observed that he neither rose nor showed fear in his presence, he was filled with rage against Mordecai.

Haman noticed that Mordecai wouldn’t get down on his knees. He wouldn’t give Haman any honor. So Haman was very angry.

Nebuchadnezzar was very angry. He sent for Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. So they were brought to him.

What I’m about to tell you is true. You will weep and mourn while the world is full of joy. You will be sad, but your sadness will turn into joy.

Horses don’t run on rocky ground. People don’t plow the sea with oxen. But you have turned fair treatment into poison. You have turned the fruit of right living into bitterness.You are happy because you captured the town of Lo Debar. You say,“ We were strong enough to take Karnaim too.”

So Ahab went home. He was angry. He was in a bad mood because of what Naboth from Jezreel had said. He had told Ahab,“ I won’t give you the land my family handed down to me.” So Ahab lay on his bed. He was in a very bad mood. He wouldn’t even eat anything.

Those who are evil are happy for only a short time. The joy of ungodly people lasts only for a moment.

How terrible for you who are well fed now! You will go hungry. How terrible for you who laugh now! You will cry and be sad.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him. They said,“ King Nebuchadnezzar, we don’t need to talk about this anymore.We might be thrown into the blazing furnace. But the God we serve is able to bring us out of it alive. He will save us from your power.But we want you to know this, Your Majesty. Even if we knew that our God wouldn’t save us, we still wouldn’t serve your gods. We wouldn’t worship the gold statue you set up.”Then Nebuchadnezzar was very angry with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. The look on his face changed. And he ordered that the furnace be heated seven times hotter than usual.

The virgins were gathered together a second time. At that time Mordecai was sitting at the palace gate.

They hate evil people. But they honor those who have respect for the Lord. They keep their promises even when it hurts. They do not change their mind.

All the royal officials at the palace gate got down on their knees. They gave honor to Haman. That’s because the king had commanded them to do it. But Mordecai refused to get down on his knees. He wouldn’t give Haman any honor at all.

Even if an army attacks me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if war breaks out against me, I will still trust in God.

Herod realized that the Wise Men had tricked him. So he became very angry. He gave orders about Bethlehem and the area around it. He ordered all the boys two years old and under to be killed. This agreed with the time when the Wise Men had seen the star.

The workers in my house always said,‘ Job always gives plenty of food to everyone.’

Be full of sorrow. Cry and weep. Change your laughter to mourning. Change your joy to sadness.

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but can’t kill the soul. Instead, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they became very angry. They were so angry they ground their teeth at Stephen.
