If the king regards me with favor and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and fulfill my request, let the king and Haman come tomorrow to the banquet I will prepare for them. Then I will answer the king’s question.”

I hope you will be pleased to give me what I want. And I hope you will be pleased to listen to my appeal. If you are, I’d like you and Haman to come tomorrow to the feast I’ll prepare for you. Then I’ll answer your question.”

If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my wish and fulfill my request, let the king and Haman come to the feast that I will prepare for them, and tomorrow I will do as the king has said.”

If I have found favor with the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my request and do what I ask, please come with Haman tomorrow to the banquet I will prepare for you. Then I will explain what this is all about.”

王后以斯帖回答說：『王啊，我若在你面前蒙恩寵，王若以為好，我所求的、是求王將我的性命賜給我；我所要的、是要王將我本族之民賜給我。

人的心計畫他所要行的路；惟有永恆主能使他腳步穩定。

那一夜王睡不着覺，就吩咐人拿《備忘錄》來；便有人在王面前一直地唸。唸到一處寫着說：王的太監中有兩個守門檻的、辟探和提列、想法子要下手害亞哈隨魯王：關於這事末底改有所報告。王說：『為了這事、曾賜給末底改甚麼顯貴或尊大的爵位沒有？』那伺候王的侍臣們回答說：『沒有賜給他甚麼。』王說：『誰在院子裏？』那時哈曼正進王宮的外院，要求王將末底改掛在他所給他豫備的示眾木架上。於是王的侍臣們就對王說：『啊，哈曼正站在院內呢。』王說：『叫他進來。』哈曼進來，王問他說：『王所喜歡賜顯貴的人、王該怎樣待他？』哈曼心裏說：『王所喜歡賜顯貴的人、除了我以外，還有誰呢？』於是哈曼回答說：『王所喜歡賜顯貴的人、人應該將王所常穿的朝服、王所常騎的馬、頭上戴有王冕的、帶進來；將朝服和馬交在王最顯達的大臣中的一個人手下，好讓人使給王所喜歡賜顯貴的人穿上，使他在城裏廣場上騎上那馬，讓人在他面前宣告說：「王所喜歡賜顯貴的人應該這樣受款待。」』王對哈曼說：『趕快帶朝服和馬、照你所說的、去款待那坐在御門前的猶大人末底改；凡你所說的、一樣也不可躐下。』於是哈曼將朝服給末底改穿上，將馬給他在城裏廣場上騎上，又在他面前宣告說：『王所喜歡顯貴的人應該這樣受款待。』末底改仍回到御門那裏；哈曼卻急急忙忙地回家去，帶着悲哀的心情，又蒙着頭。哈曼將所遭遇的一切事都敘說給他妻子細利斯和他所有的朋友聽；他那些智慧人和他妻子細利斯便對他說：『你在末底改面前既開始失敗了；他如果是猶大種族，那麼你就不能勝過他；你在他面前一定失敗到底的。』他們還同哈曼說話的時候，王的太監們早已來到，請哈曼快去赴以斯帖所豫備的筵席。

說：『王若以為好，我若在王面前蒙恩寵，這事在王面前若看為對，我在王眼中若得了王的喜悅，就請寫下勅令、取消亞甲族哈米大他的兒子哈曼所計謀的詔書，就是他所寫下來要除滅在王各省的猶大人的。
