Set it up at a place where it will be 75 feet above the ground. Everyone will be able to see it there. Then go to the feast with the king. Have a good time.” Haman was delighted with that suggestion. So he got the pole ready.

When this is done, you can go on your merry way to the banquet with the king.” This pleased Haman, and he ordered the pole set up.

So the king said,“ Who is in the courtyard?” Now Haman had just entered the outer courtyard of the king’s palace in order to speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on the wooden gallows which he had prepared for him.

The wicked have drawn the sword and bent their bow To take down the afflicted and the needy, To kill off those who are upright in conduct.

The wicked spies upon the righteous And seeks to kill him.

Jezebel his wife said to him,“ Do you now reign over Israel? Arise, eat bread, and let your heart be joyful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.”

Then Harbonah, one of the eunuchs who stood before the king, said,“ Indeed, behold, the wooden gallows standing at Haman’s house fifty cubits high, which Haman made for Mordecai who spoke good in behalf of the king!” And the king said,“ Hang him on it.”So they hanged Haman on the wooden gallows which he had prepared for Mordecai, and the king’s anger subsided.

He has also prepared deadly weapons for Himself; He makes His arrows fiery shafts.Behold, an evil person is pregnant with injustice, And he conceives harm and gives birth to lies.He has dug a pit and hollowed it out, And has fallen into the hole which he made.His harm will return on his own head, And his violence will descend on the top of his own head.

And those who live on the earth will rejoice over them and celebrate; and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who live on the earth.

The return of everyone depends on the man whom you are seeking; then all the people will be at peace.”And the plan pleased Absalom and all the elders of Israel.

And Herodias held a grudge against him and wanted to put him to death, and could not do so;for Herod was afraid of John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he had been protecting him. And when he heard him, he was very perplexed; and yet he used to enjoy listening to him.An opportune day came when Herod, on his birthday, held a banquet for his nobles and military commanders, and the leading people of Galilee;and when the daughter of Herodias herself came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests; and the king said to the girl,“ Ask me for whatever you want, and I will give it to you.”And he swore to her,“ Whatever you ask of me, I will give it to you, up to half of my kingdom.”And she went out and said to her mother,“ What shall I ask for?” And she said,“ The head of John the Baptist.”

But Amnon had a friend whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David’s brother; and Jonadab was a very clever man.And he said to him,“ Why are you, the king’s son, so depressed morning after morning? Will you not tell me?” So Amnon said to him,“ I am in love with Tamar, the sister of my brother Absalom.”Jonadab then said to him,“ Lie down on your bed and pretend to be ill; when your father comes to see you, say to him,‘ Please have my sister Tamar come and give me food to eat, and have her prepare the food in my sight, so that I may see it and eat from her hand.’ ”

There certainly was no one like Ahab who gave himself over to do evil in the sight of the Lord, because Jezebel his wife incited him.

and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them.

The nations have sunk down into the pit which they have made; In the net which they hid, their own foot has been caught.

But they lie in wait for their own blood; They ambush their own lives.

“ Their feet are swift to shed blood,

Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus,“ There is a certain people scattered and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom; their laws are different from those of all other people and they do not comply with the king’s laws, so it is not in the king’s interest to let them remain.If it is pleasing to the king, let it be decreed that they be eliminated, and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver into the hands of those who carry out the king’s business, to put into the king’s treasuries.”Then the king took his signet ring from his hand and gave it to Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews.And the king said to Haman,“ The silver is yours, and the people also, to do with them as you please.”Then the king’s scribes were summoned on the thirteenth day of the first month, and it was written just as Haman commanded to the king’s satraps, to the governors who were over each province and to the officials of each people, each province according to its script, each people according to its language, being written in the name of King Ahasuerus and sealed with the king’s signet ring.Letters were sent by couriers to all the king’s provinces to annihilate, kill, and destroy all the Jews, both young and old, women and children, in one day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to seize their possessions as plunder.A copy of the edict to be issued as law in every province was published to all the peoples so that they would be ready for this day.The couriers went out, speeded by the king’s order while the decree was issued at the citadel in Susa; and while the king and Haman sat down to drink, the city of Susa was agitated.

He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother was his counselor to act wickedly.So he did evil in the sight of the Lord like the house of Ahab, for they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his own destruction.
