In every province to which the edict and order of the king came, there was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting, weeping and wailing. Many lay in sackcloth and ashes.

All the Jews were very sad. They didn’t eat anything. They wept and cried. Many of them put on the rough clothing people wear when they’re sad. They were lying down in ashes. They did all these things in every territory where the king’s order and law had been sent.

And in every province, wherever the king’s command and his decree reached, there was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting and weeping and lamenting, and many of them lay in sackcloth and ashes.

And as news of the king’s decree reached all the provinces, there was great mourning among the Jews. They fasted, wept, and wailed, and many people lay in burlap and ashes.

There was great mourning among the Jewish people in every province where the king’s command and edict reached. They fasted, wept, and lamented, and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.

我面向主神，禁食，披麻蒙灰，恳切祷告祈求。

因此我说：“不要看我，让我痛哭吧！不要因我百姓的毁灭竭力安慰我。”

这岂是我所要的禁食，为人所用以刻苦己心的日子吗？我难道只是叫人如芦苇般低头，铺上麻布和灰烬吗？你能称此为禁食，为耶和华所悦纳的日子吗？

当那日，万军之主耶和华使人哭泣哀号，头上光秃，身披麻布。

这事发生在亚哈随鲁的时代，亚哈随鲁从印度直到古实统治一百二十七个省，

于是王对侍从说：‘捆起他的手脚，把他扔在外边的黑暗里；在那里他要哀哭切齿了。’

“你当去召集书珊所有的犹太人，为我禁食三昼三夜，不吃不喝；我和我的宫女也要这样禁食。然后我违例去晋见王，我若死就死吧！”

使者到了扫罗住的基比亚，把这事说给百姓听，众百姓就都放声大哭。

他到了的时候，看哪，以利正坐在路旁的位子上观望，为神的约柜心里担忧。那人进城报信，全城的人就都呼喊起来。以利听见呼喊的声音就说：“这喧嚷的声音是什么呢？”那人急忙来报信给以利。

希西家王听见了，就撕裂衣服，披上麻衣，进了耶和华的殿。他差遣以利亚敬宫廷总管和舍伯那书记，并祭司中年长的，都披上麻衣，到亚摩斯的儿子以赛亚先知那里去。他们对他说：“希西家如此说：‘今日是急难、惩罚、凌辱的日子，就如婴孩快要出生，却没有力气生产。

丢在火炉里，在那里要哀哭切齿了。

正月十三日，王的一些书记受召而来，照着哈曼一切所吩咐的，用各省的文字、各族的语言，奉亚哈随鲁王的名写谕旨，又用王的戒指盖印，传给王的总督、各省的省长，以及各族的领袖。

把这无用的仆人丢在外面黑暗里，在那里他要哀哭切齿了。’”
