“ Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”

“ Go. Gather together all the Jews who are in Susa. And fast for my benefit. Don’t eat or drink anything for three days. Don’t do it night or day. I and my attendants will fast just as you do. Then I’ll go to the king. I’ll do it even though it’s against the law. And if I have to die, I’ll die.”

“ Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.”

我却不以性命为念，也不看为宝贵，只要行完我的路程，成就我从主耶稣所领受的职事，证明神恩惠的福音。

约沙法便惧怕，定意寻求耶和华，在犹大全地宣告禁食。

耶和华说：“虽然如此，你们应当禁食、哭泣、悲哀，一心归向我。”你们要撕裂心肠，不撕裂衣服。归向耶和华你们的神；因为他有恩典，有怜悯，不轻易发怒，有丰盛的慈爱，并且后悔不降所说的灾。或者他转意后悔，留下余福，就是留下献给耶和华你们神的素祭和奠祭，也未可知。你们要在锡安吹角，分定禁食的日子，宣告严肃会。聚集众民，使会众自洁：招聚老者，聚集孩童和吃奶的；使新郎出离洞房，新妇出离内室。侍奉耶和华的祭司要在廊子和祭坛中间哭泣，说：“耶和华啊，求你顾惜你的百姓，不要使你的产业受羞辱，列邦管辖他们。为何容列国的人说：‘他们的神在哪里呢？’”

因为，凡要救自己生命的，必丧掉生命；凡为我丧掉生命的，必救了生命。

我眷顾他，为要叫他吩咐他的众子和他的眷属遵守我的道，秉公行义，使我所应许亚伯拉罕的话都成就了。”

若是你们以侍奉耶和华为不好，今日就可以选择所要侍奉的：是你们列祖在大河那边所侍奉的神呢？是你们所住这地的亚摩利人的神呢？至于我和我家，我们必定侍奉耶和华。”

约拿进城走了一日，宣告说：“再等四十日，尼尼微必倾覆了！”尼尼微人信服神，便宣告禁食，从最大的到至小的都穿麻衣。这信息传到尼尼微王的耳中，他就下了宝座，脱下朝服，披上麻布，坐在灰中。他又使人遍告尼尼微通城，说：“王和大臣有令，人不可尝什么，牲畜、牛羊不可吃草，也不可喝水。人与牲畜都当披上麻布；人要切切求告神。各人回头离开所行的恶道，丢弃手中的强暴。或者神转意后悔，不发烈怒，使我们不致灭亡，也未可知。”

你们要分定禁食的日子，宣告严肃会，招聚长老和国中的一切居民到耶和华你们神的殿，向耶和华哀求。哀哉！耶和华的日子临近了。这日来到，好像毁灭从全能者来到。

但愿全能的神使你们在那人面前蒙怜悯，释放你们的那弟兄和便雅悯回来。我若丧了儿子，就丧了吧！”

第三日，以斯帖穿上朝服，进王宫的内院，对殿站立。王在殿里坐在宝座上，对着殿门。

我们都当刚强，为本国的民和神的城邑作大丈夫。愿耶和华凭他的意旨而行！”

也为我的命将自己的颈项置之度外。不但我感谢他们，就是外邦的众教会也感谢他们。

当那日，主万军之耶和华叫人哭泣哀号，头上光秃，身披麻布。

因他为做基督的工夫，几乎至死，不顾性命，要补足你们供给我的不及之处。

三日不能看见，也不吃也不喝。

天渐亮的时候，保罗劝众人都吃饭，说：“你们悬望忍饿不吃什么，已经十四天了。

约拿三日三夜在大鱼肚腹中，人子也要这样三日三夜在地里头。

保罗说：“你们为什么这样痛哭，使我心碎呢？我为主耶稣的名，不但被人捆绑，就是死在耶路撒冷也是愿意的。”

他拚命杀那非利士人，耶和华为以色列众人大行拯救；那时你看见，甚是欢喜，现在为何无故要杀大卫，流无辜人的血，自己取罪呢？”
