In the twelfth year of King Xerxes, in the first month, the month of Nisan, the pur( that is, the lot) was cast in the presence of Haman to select a day and month. And the lot fell on the twelfth month, the month of Adar.

So in the month of April, during the twelfth year of King Xerxes’ reign, lots were cast in Haman’s presence( the lots were called purim) to determine the best day and month to take action. And the day selected was March 7, nearly a year later.

大流士王第六年亞達月三日，建殿工程竣工。

因為猶太人的仇敵亞甲人哈米大他的兒子哈曼曾經陰謀毀滅猶太人，曾經抽普珥，即抽籤，要殺戮、滅絕他們。但王知道這陰謀後，便降旨使哈曼謀害猶太人的惡計落到他自己頭上，將他及其眾子吊在木架上。他們借用普珥這個詞，稱這兩天為普珥節。猶太人因這信上的一切話，又因所看見、所經歷的事，

巴比倫王將站在兩路的岔口，搖籤求問他的神像，察看祭牲的肝。他右手拿到的是攻打耶路撒冷的籤，於是，他用撞城錘來攻耶路撒冷的城門，廝殺吶喊，建壘築臺圍攻城池。

人可以搖籤求問，但耶和華決定一切。

這事發生在亞達月十三日。十四日，猶太人休息，並以此日為設宴歡慶的日子。但書珊城的猶太人在十三、十四日聚集殺敵，十五日才休息，並以此日為設宴歡慶的日子。因此，住在鄉村的猶太人都以亞達月十四日為設宴歡慶的節日，並互贈禮物。

猶太人用刀擊殺所有敵人，任意消滅恨他們的人。

吩咐他們每年在亞達月十四、十五日守節期，

十二月，即亞達月十三日，是執行王諭旨的日子。那天，猶太人的仇敵原本想轄制他們，卻反而被他們轄制。

他在執政第三年大宴群臣，波斯和瑪代的將領、各省的貴族和大臣都在場。

亞哈隨魯王執政第七年十月，即提別月，以斯帖被帶進宮中見王。

他們把耶穌釘在十字架上，還抽籤分了祂的衣服，

亞達薛西王二十年尼散月，酒呈到王面前後，我端起酒遞給王。在王面前，我一向沒有愁容。
