末底改穿著紫藍色和白色的朝服，戴著碩大的金冠冕，又披上紫色細麻布的外袍，從王面前出來；書珊城的人都歡呼快樂。

你們用大碗喝酒，用最貴重的膏油抹身；但你們並沒有為約瑟的敗落而痛心。

因為他們的腳奔向邪惡，他們急於流人的血。

“你要去，把書珊城所有的猶大人都召集起來，為我禁食三天，就是三日三夜不吃不喝；我和我的婢女也要這樣禁食。然後我就違例進去見王；我若是死，就死吧。”

住在地上的人為了他們的緣故，就歡喜快樂，彼此送禮，因為這兩位先知曾經使他們受痛苦。

在我們王喜慶的日子，領袖們因酒的烈性而生病，王就與褻慢人聯手。

義人增多的時候，人民就喜樂；惡人掌權的時候，人民就歎息。

我實實在在告訴你們，你們要痛哭哀號，世人卻要歡喜；你們要憂愁，但你們的憂愁要變為喜樂。

因為他們不行惡，就不能入睡；不使人跌倒，就要失眠。
