And the king gave a great banquet, Esther’s banquet, for all his nobles and officials. He proclaimed a holiday throughout the provinces and distributed gifts with royal liberality.

Then the king gave a feast to honor Esther. All his nobles and officials were invited. He announced a holiday all through the territories he ruled over. He freely gave many gifts in keeping with his royal wealth.

So the Levites silenced all the people, saying,“ Be still, for the day is holy; do not be grieved.”

Drinks were served in golden vessels of various kinds, and the royal wine was plentiful in proportion to the king’s bounty.

So Laban gathered all the people of the place and held a feast.

“ The kingdom of heaven is like a king who held a wedding feast for his son.

Ask your young men and they will tell you. Therefore let my young men find favor in your eyes, for we have come on a festive day. Please give whatever you find at hand to your servants and to your son David.’ ”

“ I have come into my garden, my sister, my bride; I have gathered my myrrh along with my balsam. I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk. Eat, friends; Drink and drink deeply, lovers.”

because on those days the Jews rid themselves of their enemies, and it was a month which was turned for them from grief into joy, and from mourning into a holiday; that they were to make them days of feasting and rejoicing, and sending portions of food to one another, and gifts to the poor.

Then his father went down to the woman; and Samson held a feast there, for the young men customarily did this.When they saw him, they brought thirty companions to be with him.Then Samson said to them,“ Let me now propose a riddle for you; if you actually tell me the answer within the seven days of the feast, and solve it, then I will give you thirty linen wraps and thirty outfits of clothes.But if you are unable to tell me, then you shall give me thirty linen wraps and thirty outfits of clothes.” And they said to him,“ Propose your riddle, so that we may hear it.”So he said to them,“ Out of the eater came something to eat, And out of the strong came something sweet.” But they could not tell the answer to the riddle in three days.Then it came about on the fourth day that they said to Samson’s wife,“ Entice your husband, so that he will tell us the riddle, or we will burn you and your father’s house with fire. Have you invited us to impoverish us? Is this not so?”So Samson’s wife wept in front of him and said,“ You only hate me, and you do not love me; you have proposed a riddle to the sons of my people, and have not told it to me.” And he said to her,“ Behold, I have not told it to my father or mother; so should I tell you?”However she wept before him for seven days while their feast lasted. And on the seventh day he told her because she pressed him so hard. She then told the riddle to the sons of her people.

Then he* said to me,“ Write:‘ Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.’ ” And he* said to me,“ These are the true words of God.”

And those who live on the earth will rejoice over them and celebrate; and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who live on the earth.
