撒母耳对他说：“耶和华今天已经从你身上拿走了以色列国的王位，赐给了一个比你好的人。

王若愿意，就请降旨消灭他们。我愿捐三百四十五吨银子交给管理国事的人，纳入王的库房。”

以色列人听见王这样断案，都敬畏他，因为他们知道他有上帝所赐的智慧，可以秉公执法。

说：“王若愿意，我若得到王的恩宠，王若认为好，并且喜悦我，就请王降旨，废除亚甲人哈米大他的儿子哈曼阴谋灭绝各省犹太人的谕旨。
