I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those who oppress the hired worker in his wages, the widow and the fatherless, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the Lord of hosts.

Then he said to his servants,‘ The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy.

I was angry with my people; I profaned my heritage; I gave them into your hand; you showed them no mercy; on the aged you made your yoke exceedingly heavy.

Hear this, you who trample on the needy and bring the poor of the land to an end,saying,“ When will the new moon be over, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may offer wheat for sale, that we may make the ephah small and the shekel great and deal deceitfully with false balances,that we may buy the poor for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals and sell the chaff of the wheat?”The Lord has sworn by the pride of Jacob:“ Surely I will never forget any of their deeds.

Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.

And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests.

‘ Why have we fasted, and you see it not? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?’ Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure, and oppress all your workers.Behold, you fast only to quarrel and to fight and to hit with a wicked fist. Fasting like yours this day will not make your voice to be heard on high.Is such the fast that I choose, a day for a person to humble himself? Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Will you call this a fast, and a day acceptable to the Lord?“ Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?

so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

But if that wicked servant says to himself,‘ My master is delayed,’

Now our flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our children are as their children. Yet we are forcing our sons and our daughters to be slaves, and some of our daughters have already been enslaved, but it is not in our power to help it, for other men have our fields and our vineyards.”

I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and will execute justice for the needy.

Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ,not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man,

Ought you not to walk in the fear of our God to prevent the taunts of the nations our enemies?

If you see in a province the oppression of the poor and the violation of justice and righteousness, do not be amazed at the matter, for the high official is watched by a higher, and there are yet higher ones over them.

And whoever does not fall down and worship shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace.”

“ You shall not oppress a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of the sojourners who are in your land within your towns.You shall give him his wages on the same day, before the sun sets( for he is poor and counts on it), lest he cry against you to the Lord, and you be guilty of sin.

For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you,‘ You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’“ If your brother, a Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you, he shall serve you six years, and in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you.And when you let him go free from you, you shall not let him go empty-handed.You shall furnish him liberally out of your flock, out of your threshing floor, and out of your winepress. As the Lord your God has blessed you, you shall give to him.You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this today.But if he says to you,‘ I will not go out from you,’ because he loves you and your household, since he is well-off with you,

For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

“ If your brother becomes poor beside you and sells himself to you, you shall not make him serve as a slave:he shall be with you as a hired worker and as a sojourner. He shall serve with you until the year of the jubilee.Then he shall go out from you, he and his children with him, and go back to his own clan and return to the possession of his fathers.For they are my servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold as slaves.You shall not rule over him ruthlessly but shall fear your God.As for your male and female slaves whom you may have: you may buy male and female slaves from among the nations that are around you.You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their clans that are with you, who have been born in your land, and they may be your property.You may bequeath them to your sons after you to inherit as a possession forever. You may make slaves of them, but over your brothers the people of Israel you shall not rule, one over another ruthlessly.

And Samuel said,“ Though you are little in your own eyes, are you not the head of the tribes of Israel? The Lord anointed you king over Israel.
