是以我為基督使、雖繫鐵索、得侃侃言、如所當言、

我為此福音為使者、而陷於縲絏之中、當求主使我得毅然而傳、如所當言、

蓋我已為福音之故而成為被鍊加鎖之星使。果能不為威武所屈、侃侃而談、庶幾不辱使命、是所至願也。

Because of the good news, I am being held by chains as the Lord’s messenger. So pray that I will be bold as I preach the good news. That’s what I should do.

for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God’s ambassador. So pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should.

For this I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I might be bold enough to speak about it as I should.

Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.

It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.

that I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, who became my son while I was in chains.

May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains.

As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.

What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Look, their brave men cry aloud in the streets; the envoys of peace weep bitterly.

He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ— with all boldness and without hindrance!

David thought,“ I will show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, just as his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent a delegation to express his sympathy to Hanun concerning his father. When David’s men came to the land of the Ammonites,the Ammonite commanders said to Hanun their lord,“ Do you think David is honoring your father by sending envoys to you to express sympathy? Hasn’t David sent them to you only to explore the city and spy it out and overthrow it?”So Hanun seized David’s envoys, shaved off half of each man’s beard, cut off their garments at the buttocks, and sent them away.When David was told about this, he sent messengers to meet the men, for they were greatly humiliated. The king said,“ Stay at Jericho till your beards have grown, and then come back.”When the Ammonites realized that they had become obnoxious to David, they hired twenty thousand Aramean foot soldiers from Beth Rehob and Zobah, as well as the king of Maakah with a thousand men, and also twelve thousand men from Tob.

“ Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified by them, or I will terrify you before them.

A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a trustworthy envoy brings healing.

But the Lord said to me,“ Do not say,‘ I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.

The people to whom I am sending you are obstinate and stubborn. Say to them,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says.’And whether they listen or fail to listen— for they are a rebellious people— they will know that a prophet has been among them.And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or be terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people.You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious.

“ Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the descendants of Jacob their sins.

The commander came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound with two chains. Then he asked who he was and what he had done.

I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.

Paul replied,“ Short time or long— I pray to God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains.”

for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained.

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.

Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,

Peter and the other apostles replied:“ We must obey God rather than human beings!

Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.

We had previously suffered and been treated outrageously in Philippi, as you know, but with the help of our God we dared to tell you his gospel in the face of strong opposition.
