“ Cursed is anyone who dishonors their father or mother.” Then all the people shall say,“ Amen!” (niv)

Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. (niv)

Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. (niv)

And he continued,“ You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!For Moses said,‘ Honor your father and mother,’ and,‘ Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is Corban( that is, devoted to God)—then you no longer let them do anything for their father or mother.Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.” (niv)

“ A son honors his father, and a slave his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?” says the Lord Almighty.“ It is you priests who show contempt for my name.“ But you ask,‘ How have we shown contempt for your name?’ (niv)

In you they have treated father and mother with contempt; in you they have oppressed the foreigner and mistreated the fatherless and the widow. (niv)
