你们要谨守、警醒。你们的仇敌魔鬼，好像吼叫的狮子走来走去，寻找可以吞吃的人；你们要用坚强的信心抵挡他，因为知道你们在世上的弟兄，也经历过同样的苦难。

因为凡从神生的就胜过世界。使我们胜过世界的，就是我们的信心。胜过世界的是谁呢？不就是那信耶稣是神的儿子的吗？

这些事以后，耶和华的话在异象中临到亚伯兰说：“亚伯兰，你不要惧怕，我是你的盾牌；你的赏赐是很大的。”

至高者（“至高者”原文放在第2节末，在那里或译：“因逞骄傲攻击我的人很多”）啊！我惧怕的时候，就要倚靠你。靠着神，我要赞美他的话；我倚靠神，就必不惧怕，人能把我怎么样呢？

耶和华的名是坚固的高台，义人投奔，就得安全。

靠着神，我要赞美他的话；靠着耶和华，我要赞美他的话。我倚靠神，就必不惧怕，人能把我怎么样呢？

照样，神定意向那些承受应许的人，更清楚地表明他的旨意是不更改的，就用起誓作保证。这两件事是不能更改的，因为神是决不说谎的。因此，我们这些逃进避难所的人，就大得安慰，抓紧那摆在我们面前的盼望。

所以，我们并不沮丧，我们外面的人虽然渐渐朽坏，但里面的人却日日更新，因为我们短暂轻微的患难，是要为我们成就极大无比、永远的荣耀。我们所顾念的，不是看得见的，而是看不见的；因为看得见的是暂时的，看不见的是永远的。

我们并不是要辖制你们的信仰，而是要作你们的同工，使你们喜乐，因为你们在信仰上已经站稳了。

不要熄灭圣灵的感动。

因着信，摩西长大了以后，就拒绝被称为法老女儿的儿子。他宁愿选择和神的子民一同受苦，也不肯享受罪恶中暂时的快乐。在他看来，为着基督受的凌辱，比埃及的财物更宝贵，因为他注视将来的赏赐。因着信，他离开了埃及，不怕王的忿怒；因为他坚定不移，就像看见了人不能看见的神。因着信，他立了逾越节和洒血的礼，免得那灭命的侵犯以色列人的长子。因着信，他们走过了红海，好像走过旱地一样；埃及人也试着要过去，就被淹没了。因着信，耶利哥的城墙被围绕了七天，就倒塌了。因着信，妓女喇合和和平平接待了侦察的人，就没有和那些不顺从的人一起灭亡。我还要再说什么呢？如果再要述说基甸、巴拉、参孙、耶弗他、大卫、撒母耳和众先知的事，时间就不够了。他们藉着信，就战胜了敌国，伸张了正义，得到了应许，堵住了狮子的口，消灭了烈火的威力，逃脱了刀剑的锋刃，软弱变成刚强，在战争中显出大能，把外国的军队击退。

就是勇士的利箭，和罗腾木烧的炭火。
