但是我願意你們知道，基督是男人的頭，男人是女人的頭（“男人是女人的頭”或譯：“丈夫是妻子的頭”），神是基督的頭。男人禱告或講道的時候，如果蒙著頭，就是羞辱自己的頭。女人禱告或講道的時候，如果不蒙著頭，就是羞辱自己的頭，因為這就好像剃了頭髮一樣。女人要不蒙著頭，她就應當把頭髮剪了；如果女人以為剪髮或剃頭是羞恥的事，她就應當蒙著頭。男人不應蒙著頭，因為他是神的形象和榮耀，而女人是男人的榮耀。因為男人不是由女人而出，女人卻是由男人而出，並且男人不是為了女人而造的，女人卻是為了男人而造的。因此，為天使的緣故，女人應當在頭上有服權柄的記號。

他是身體的頭，這身體就是教會。他是元始，是死人中首先復生的，好讓他在凡事上居首位；

卻要在愛中過誠實的生活，在各方面長進，達到基督的身量。他是教會的頭，

神又使萬有都歸服在他的腳下，並且賜他給教會作萬有的元首。教會是他的身體，是那充滿萬有者所完全充滿的。

你們作丈夫的，要愛妻子，好像基督愛教會，為教會捨己，為的是要用水藉著道把教會洗淨，成為聖潔，

他們唱著新歌，說：“你配取書卷，配拆開封印，因為你曾被殺，曾用你的血，從各支派、各方言、各民族、各邦國，把人買了來歸給神，

食物是為了肚腹，肚腹是為了食物；但神卻要把這兩樣都廢掉。身體不是為了淫亂，而是為了主，主也是為了身體。

並且等候他的兒子從天降臨。這就是神使他從死人中復活，救我們脫離將來的忿怒的那位耶穌。

聖靈既然立你們為全群的監督，牧養神用自己的血所贖來的教會，你們就應當為自己謹慎，也為全群謹慎。
