Don’t fill yourself up with wine. Getting drunk will lead to wild living. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born.

Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks,

and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.

Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.

For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.

He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.

Some, however, made fun of them and said,“ They have had too much wine.”Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd:“ Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.These people are not drunk, as you suppose. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.

nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

“ Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap.

For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do— living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.

Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up late at night till they are inflamed with wine.They have harps and lyres at their banquets, pipes and timbrels and wine, but they have no regard for the deeds of the Lord, no respect for the work of his hands.Therefore my people will go into exile for lack of understanding; those of high rank will die of hunger and the common people will be parched with thirst.

They shall say to the elders,“ This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.”

Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes?Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine.Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly!In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper.Your eyes will see strange sights, and your mind will imagine confusing things.You will be like one sleeping on the high seas, lying on top of the rigging.“ They hit me,” you will say,“ but I’m not hurt! They beat me, but I don’t feel it! When will I wake up so I can find another drink?”

Take me away with you— let us hurry! Let the king bring me into his chambers. We rejoice and delight in you; we will praise your love more than wine. How right they are to adore you!

and the Lord Almighty will shield them. They will destroy and overcome with slingstones. They will drink and roar as with wine; they will be full like a bowl used for sprinkling the corners of the altar.The Lord their God will save his people on that day as a shepherd saves his flock. They will sparkle in his land like jewels in a crown.How attractive and beautiful they will be! Grain will make the young men thrive, and new wine the young women.

Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat,for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags.

But suppose the servant says to himself,‘ My master is taking a long time in coming,’ and he then begins to beat the other servants, both men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk.

An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.

Let’s get our father to drink wine and then sleep with him and preserve our family line through our father.”That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and slept with him. “ Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent.

On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine— the best of meats and the finest of wines.

for when you are eating, some of you go ahead with your own private suppers. As a result, one person remains hungry and another gets drunk.

Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

“ Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

Those who sit at the gate mock me, and I am the song of the drunkards.

and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards.

and your mouth like the best wine. May the wine go straight to my beloved, flowing gently over lips and teeth.
