For everything made evident is light, and for this reason it says:“ Awake, O sleeper! Rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you!”

Therefore he says,“ Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD shines over you.

Your dead will live; their bodies will rise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust! For you will be covered with the morning dew, and the earth will bring out the departed spirits.

Besides this, since you know the time, it is already the hour for you to wake up from sleep, because now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.The night is nearly over, and the day is near; so let us discard the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

So then, let us not sleep, like the rest, but let us stay awake and be self-controlled.

“ Wake up, wake up; put on your strength, Zion! Put on your beautiful garments, Jerusalem, the holy city! For the uncircumcised and the unclean will no longer enter you.

“ Truly I tell you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.For just as the Father has life in himself, so also he has granted to the Son to have life in himself.And he has granted him the right to pass judgment, because he is the Son of Man.Do not be amazed at this, because a time is coming when all who are in the graves will hear his voiceand come out— those who have done good things, to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked things, to the resurrection of condemnation.

For God who said,“ Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ.

Wake yourself, wake yourself up! Stand up, Jerusalem, you who have drunk the cup of his fury from the LORD’s hand; you who have drunk the goblet to the dregs— the cup that causes people to stagger.

Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life.For if we have been united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be in the likeness of his resurrection.

So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Jesus spoke to them again:“ I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”

Come to your senses and stop sinning; for some people are ignorant about God. I say this to your shame.

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Then they may come to their senses and escape the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

This has now been made evident through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who has abolished death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

He said to me,“ Prophesy concerning these bones and say to them: Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!This is what the Lord GOD says to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you, and you will live.I will put tendons on you, make flesh grow on you, and cover you with skin. I will put breath in you so that you come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.”So I prophesied as I had been commanded. While I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone.As I looked, tendons appeared on them, flesh grew, and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.He said to me,“ Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man. Say to it: This is what the Lord GOD says: Breath, come from the four winds and breathe into these slain so that they may live!”So I prophesied as he commanded me; the breath entered them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, a vast army.

made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!

And do not offer any parts of it to sin as weapons for unrighteousness. But as those who are alive from the dead, offer yourselves to God, and all the parts of yourselves to God as weapons for righteousness.

After he said this, he shouted with a loud voice,“ Lazarus, come out!”The dead man came out bound hand and foot with linen strips and with his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them,“ Unwrap him and let him go.”

For this is what the Lord has commanded us: I have made you a light for the Gentiles to bring salvation to the ends of the earth.”

Because of our God’s merciful compassion, the dawn from on high will visit us
