He looked up and saw the rich dropping their offerings into the temple treasury.He also saw a poor widow dropping in two tiny coins.“ Truly I tell you,” he said,“ this poor widow has put in more than all of them.For all these people have put in gifts out of their surplus, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on.”

Do not steal.

“ What then should we do?” the crowds were asking him.He replied to them,“ The one who has two shirts must share with someone who has none, and the one who has food must do the same.”Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they asked him,“ Teacher, what should we do?”He told them,“ Don’t collect any more than what you have been authorized.”Some soldiers also questioned him,“ What should we do?” He said to them,“ Don’t take money from anyone by force or false accusation, and be satisfied with your wages.”

Now we command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from every brother or sister who is idle and does not live according to the tradition received from us.For you yourselves know how you should imitate us: We were not idle among you;we did not eat anyone’s food free of charge; instead, we labored and toiled, working night and day, so that we would not be a burden to any of you.

Wealth obtained by fraud will dwindle, but whoever earns it through labor will multiply it.

For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.

Teach me what I cannot see; if I have done wrong, I won’t do it again.”

You yourselves know that I worked with my own hands to support myself and those who are with me.In every way I’ve shown you that it is necessary to help the weak by laboring like this and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, because he said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

“ Whoever kidnaps a person must be put to death, whether he sells him or the person is found in his possession.

no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God’s kingdom.And some of you used to be like this. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Share with the saints in their needs; pursue hospitality.

Otherwise, I might have too much and deny you, saying,“ Who is the LORD?” or I might have nothing and steal, profaning the name of my God.

He didn’t say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief. He was in charge of the money-bag and would steal part of what was put in it.

Then he said to me,“ This is the curse that is going out over the whole land, for everyone who is a thief, contrary to what is written on one side, has gone unpunished, and everyone who swears falsely, contrary to what is written on the other side, has gone unpunished.

The one who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy.

Since Judas kept the money-bag, some thought that Jesus was telling him,“ Buy what we need for the festival,” or that he should give something to the poor.

There is profit in all hard work, but endless talk leads only to poverty.

But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord,“ Look, I’ll give half of my possessions to the poor, Lord. And if I have extorted anything from anyone, I’ll pay back four times as much.”

During a severe trial brought about by affliction, their abundant joy and their extreme poverty overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part.

Do not covet your neighbor’s house. Do not covet your neighbor’s wife, his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.Because of the proof provided by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedient confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone.And as they pray on your behalf, they will have deep affection for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you.Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

“‘ Do you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and follow other gods that you have not known?

Therefore produce fruit consistent with repentance. And don’t start saying to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones.

Cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and adultery are rampant; one act of bloodshed follows another.
