He makes the whole body grow and build itself up in love. Under the control of Christ, each part of the body does its work. It supports the other parts. In that way, the body is joined and held together.

殊不知元首為全體之綱領、全體之筋脈骨節、賴之以生、賴之以固、賴之以調暢滋長於天主懷中。

吾為樹身、爾為樹枝。凡寓乎吾身、而有我寓乎其衷者、必結實繁多。離乎吾、爾將一無所能。

現所存者、惟信、望、愛三德；三德之中、愛為大。爾等當追求愛德、亦當志於靈賦；而靈賦之中、預言尚矣。

使其團結一致於愛德之中、寖達和融瑩徹、沛然不疑之地、俾能切身體認天主之妙道而已矣。妙道無他、基督是已。

至於兄弟友愛之道、當無需吾之喋喋。爾等親沐天主薰陶、固知彼此相愛。爾等對馬其頓全境兄弟、亦確能踐履愛德也。惟望勉益加勉、日新又新、

異曲同工、皆為作育聖徒、供役教會、建成基督之體、

吾所為心禱者無他、惟望爾之仁愛與日俱進、發為真知卓見、

胚胎母腹。主實甄之。魂魄潛結。主實成之。吾未成形。主已洞察。未見天日。先註歲月。

天主於創世以前、夙在基督之身、予吾人以恩簡、俾吾人得成聖潔無瑕、對越所天。

願主激增爾之愛德、使兄弟中能相親相愛、兼愛眾人、亦如吾之愛爾。

務須篤守真諦、涵養愛德、日漸月漬、暢茂條達、庶克仰配為吾人元首之基督。

夫所當勸告於人者、一言以蔽之、亦曰以光明之心地、純潔之天良無妄之信德、存養愛德而已矣。

使基督能緣爾之信德、而寓爾心中、使爾於愛德中確立根基、

且爾等一聞吾儕口授之天主福音、不以其為世俗之教、乃審知其實為天主聖道、而欣然納之。故聖道亦緣爾之篤信、而運其妙工於爾身；此尤吾儕之所引以為慰、而感謝天主不能自已者也。

夫愛之為德、寬裕含忍、愷悌慈祥、不忮不求、不矜不伐、明廉知恥、尚義敦禮、於利不貪、見忤不怒、不念惡、不逆詐、不樂人之非、惟樂人之是；無所不容、無所不信、無所不望、無所不忍。預言有時而息、方言有時而廢、智識有時而窮；而愛德則永久不匱也。蓋吾人之所知、偏而不全；所預言者、亦偏而不全；

天主運用其大能、賜我恩寵、令我得供役於福音。

夫人之一身、具有四肢百體；肢體雖多、不外一身。基督亦然；故無論猶太人也、希臘人也、主也奴也、皆洗於一神、融為一體、且共汲同一之活泉焉。蓋身固非單獨肢體所成、乃多數肢體所成也。足曰：『吾既非手、故不屬身、』其果不屬身耶？耳曰：『吾既非目、故不屬身、』其果不屬身耶？若全身皆目、將何以為聽乎？全身皆耳、將何以為嗅乎？今天主匠心獨運、置百體於一身、豈無意乎？如百體皆屬一官、則不成其為身矣。然揆諸實際、肢體雖多、其身惟一。因此、目不得謂手曰：『爾於我何有；』首亦不得謂足曰：『我無需於爾也。』大抵身之百體中、尤以其較柔者為切要、人視為體之賤者、則愈益貴之；俗者、則愈益飾之使雅；蓋雅者無庸飾也。此實天主調和全身以有餘補不足；庶幾一身之中、不生嫌隙、四肢百體咸能休戚相關、互相愛護耳。一體痛百體同苦一體榮、百體同樂。今吾人全體、乃基督之身也；各別言之、則皆此身之肢體也。天主在教會內所建立者、一為宗徒、二為先知、三為教師、次則聖蹟、異能、醫道賑濟、管理、及各種方言；

若夫聖神之果、則為仁愛、神樂、安怡、忍耐、慈祥、良善、忠信、

蓋爾等信而有行、愛而能勞、仰望吾主耶穌基督、確乎不拔、故在天主聖父之前、時切馳思、不能自已、

今者爾之靈魂、已因服膺聖道而致潔矣；應能身體誠實無妄之愛德也。務望一秉赤誠、彼此相愛。

今兄弟等已蒙召而獲自由矣惟勿以自由為名、而行其放縱恣肆之實；務望以仁愛之精神、而彼此互相服務也。蓋全部律法、一言以蔽之、曰：「愛鄰如己。」

至論祭肉如何、吾人皆曰斯易知耳。然知能長傲、惟愛德則能立己立人也。

為我兄弟恆謝天主、實為吾儕之天職也。夫以爾等信德之突飛猛進、及彼此間友愛精神之暢發、則吾儕之感謝天主、不亦宜乎。

在基督道中、受割與否、無關宏旨、亦惟興於仁而立於信而已矣。
