He gave all these people so that they might prepare God’s people to serve. Then the body of Christ will be built up.

Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church.I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.

I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another.

What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.

But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit, try to excel in those that build up the church.

Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God,

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:

strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith.“ We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust.

We put no stumbling block in anyone’s path, so that our ministry will not be discredited.

Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you.Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.

which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

I know that when I come to you, I will come in the full measure of the blessing of Christ.

Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart.

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.Only let us live up to what we have already attained.Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed.Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.

Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? We have been speaking in the sight of God as those in Christ; and everything we do, dear friends, is for your strengthening.

Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.

Tell Archippus:“ See to it that you complete the ministry you have received in the Lord.”

He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.

Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.

Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.

We are glad whenever we are weak but you are strong; and our prayer is that you may be fully restored.

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.

Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith,so that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me.

will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called;

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me— the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
