For this cause I, Paul, am the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles,

Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called,

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am supplementing what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions in behalf of His body, which is the church.

for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

yet for love’s sake I rather appeal to you— since I am such a person as Paul, an old man, and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus—

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God,

so that my imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the praetorian guard and to everyone else,and that most of the brothers and sisters, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear.Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even from envy and strife, but some also from goodwill;the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel;

For it is only right for me to feel this way about you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of grace with me.

Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, To Philemon our beloved brother and fellow worker,

“ But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, turning you over to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors on account of My name.

So he took him and led him to the commander and* said,“ Paul the prisoner called me over to him and asked me to bring this young man to you because he has something to tell you.”

After three days Paul called together those who were the leading men of the Jews, and when they came together, he began saying to them,“ Brothers, though I had done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers, yet I was handed over to the Romans as a prisoner from Jerusalem.And when they had examined me, they were willing to release me because there were no grounds for putting me to death.But when the Jews objected, I was forced to appeal to Caesar, not that I had any accusation against my nation.For this reason, therefore, I requested to see you and to speak with you, since I am wearing this chain for the sake of the hope of Israel.”

And Paul said,“ I would wish to God that even in a short or long time not only you, but also all who hear me this day would become such as I myself am, except for these chains.”

Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, greets you,

who both killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out. They are not pleasing to God, but hostile to all people,hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved; with the result that they always reach the limit of their sins. But wrath has come upon them fully.

I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. Remember my imprisonment. Grace be with you.

The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains;

Now I, Paul, myself urge you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ— I who am meek when face to face with you, but bold toward you when absent!

Are they servants of Christ?— I am speaking as if insane— I more so; in far more labors, in far more imprisonments, beaten times without number, often in danger of death.

for which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned.For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.

Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned;

Then the commander came up and took hold of him, and ordered that he be bound with two chains; and he began asking who he was and what he had done.

Therefore I ask you not to become discouraged about my tribulations in your behalf, since they are your glory.

But as for me, brothers and sisters, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been eliminated.

Look! I, Paul, tell you that if you have yourselves circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you.
