But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us,

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead

But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love for mankind appeared,he saved us— not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy— through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.He poured out his Spirit on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviorso that, having been justified by his grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace

so that in the coming ages he might display the immeasurable riches of his grace through his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth.

since there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, because the same Lord of all richly blesses all who call on him.

But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love.He will not always accuse us or be angry forever.He has not dealt with us as our sins deserve or repaid us according to our iniquities.For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his faithful love toward those who fear him.

The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and great in faithful love.

and the grace of our Lord overflowed, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

“ Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.Dear friends, if God loved us in this way, we also must love one another.No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God remains in us and his love is made complete in us.This is how we know that we remain in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit.And we have seen and we testify that the Father has sent his Son as the world’s Savior.Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God— God remains in him and he in God.And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.In this, love is made complete with us so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment, because as he is, so also are we in this world.There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. So the one who fears is not complete in love.We love because he first loved us.

This grace was given to me— the least of all the saints— to proclaim to the Gentiles the incalculable riches of Christ,

Or do you despise the riches of his kindness, restraint, and patience, not recognizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

He said,“ I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim the name‘ the LORD’ before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”

And what if he did this to make known the riches of his glory on objects of mercy that he prepared beforehand for glory—

the LORD appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued to extend faithful love to you.

For you, Lord, are kind and ready to forgive, abounding in faithful love to all who call on you.

“‘ I passed by you and saw you thrashing around in your blood, and I said to you as you lay in your blood,“ Live!” Yes, I said to you as you lay in your blood,“ Live!”I made you thrive like plants of the field. You grew up and matured and became very beautiful. Your breasts were formed and your hair grew, but you were stark naked.“‘ Then I passed by you and saw you, and you were indeed at the age for love. So I spread the edge of my garment over you and covered your nakedness. I pledged myself to you, entered into a covenant with you— this is the declaration of the Lord GOD— and you became mine.

They refused to listen and did not remember your wonders you performed among them. They became stiff-necked and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt. But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love, and you did not abandon them.

The LORD passed in front of him and proclaimed: The LORD— the LORD is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth,maintaining faithful love to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin. But he will not leave the guilty unpunished, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ iniquity on the children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation.

Because of our God’s merciful compassion, the dawn from on high will visit us

Who is a God like you, forgiving iniquity and passing over rebellion for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not hold on to his anger forever because he delights in faithful love.He will again have compassion on us; he will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.You will show loyalty to Jacob and faithful love to Abraham, as you swore to our ancestors from days long ago.

Be gracious to me, God, according to your faithful love; according to your abundant compassion, blot out my rebellion.

Seek the LORD while he may be found; call to him while he is near.Let the wicked one abandon his way and the sinful one his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, so he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will freely forgive.“ For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways.” This is the LORD’s declaration.

You are not going to take possession of their land because of your righteousness or your integrity. Instead, the LORD your God will drive out these nations before you because of their wickedness, in order to fulfill the promise he swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.Understand that the LORD your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people.

For he tells Moses, I will show mercy to whom I will show mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.So then, it does not depend on human will or effort but on God who shows mercy.

“ The LORD had his heart set on you and chose you, not because you were more numerous than all peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples.But because the LORD loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors, he brought you out with a strong hand and redeemed you from the place of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

He prayed to the LORD,“ Please, LORD, isn’t this what I said while I was still in my own country? That’s why I fled toward Tarshish in the first place. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger, abounding in faithful love, and one who relents from sending disaster.

The law came along to multiply the trespass. But where sin multiplied, grace multiplied even moreso that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace will reign through righteousness, resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.

Compassion and forgiveness belong to the Lord our God, though we have rebelled against him

But we ought to thank God always for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God has chosen you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and through belief in the truth.
