Having abolished in his flesh the enmity,[ even] the law of commandments[ contained] in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man,[ so] making peace;

且於其形軀廢厥仇讐、即誡命之律、載於條例者、致於彼中以二者造一新人而致和、

惟有守法之儀文、故我儕相敵、基督身死而廢之、使二為一、而相和如新造之人、

彼以其身、廢冤仇之由、即教守儀文之律法、欲於己身使二者成為一新造之人、如是、使之得和、

除法令之障。於彼之身、本族外族融成一體、以作新人、以建和平。

by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace,

Through his body on the cross, Christ set aside the law with all its commands and rules. He planned to create one new people out of Jews and Gentiles. He wanted to make peace between them.

by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace,

He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations. He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new people from the two groups.

Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

And have put on the new[ man], which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed[ is] every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

In that he saith, A new[ covenant], he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old[ is] ready to vanish away.

Which[ was] a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;[ Which stood] only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed[ on them] until the time of reformation.

Therefore if any man[ be] in Christ,[ he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

[ It was] therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in[ your] mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciledIn the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

For the law having a shadow of good things to come,[ and] not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.But in those[ sacrifices there is] a remembrance again[ made] of sins every year.For[ it is] not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:In burnt offerings and[ sacrifices] for sin thou hast had no pleasure.Then said I, Lo, I come( in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and[ offering] for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure[ therein]; which are offered by the law;Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once[ for all].

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;And[ having] an high priest over the house of God;Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
