並廢除了以誡命和規條為內容的律法制度。祂這樣做是為了在自己裡面把雙方造成一個新人，成就和平，

而且以自己的身体废掉冤仇，就是那记在律法上的规条，为要将两下藉着自己造成一个新人，如此便成就了和睦。

且於其形軀廢厥仇讐、即誡命之律、載於條例者、致於彼中以二者造一新人而致和、

惟有守法之儀文、故我儕相敵、基督身死而廢之、使二為一、而相和如新造之人、

彼以其身、廢冤仇之由、即教守儀文之律法、欲於己身使二者成為一新造之人、如是、使之得和、

除法令之障。於彼之身、本族外族融成一體、以作新人、以建和平。

by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace,

Through his body on the cross, Christ set aside the law with all its commands and rules. He planned to create one new people out of Jews and Gentiles. He wanted to make peace between them.

撤銷了指控我們違背律法的罪狀，將它和基督一同釘在了十字架上，

穿上了新人。這新人在知識上不斷更新，更像他的造物主。

凡以遵行律法為本的人都在咒詛之下，因為聖經上說：「凡不遵行律法書上一切命令的人必受咒詛。」

從此不再分猶太人和希臘人，自由人和奴隸，男人和女人，因為你們都在基督耶穌裡合而為一了。

你們既然和基督一同死了，擺脫了世俗的玄學，為什麼仍像活在世俗中，

受不受割禮根本無關緊要，做一個新造的人才至關重要。

整個身體靠祂巧妙地結合在一起，筋骨相連，彼此供應，使各部位各盡其職，身體便漸漸長大，在愛中建立起來。

上帝既然說要立新約，就是把以前的約當作舊的了，那漸漸過時、陳舊的東西很快就會消失。

這件事是一個象徵，告訴現今的世代：所獻的禮物和祭物都不能使敬拜的人良心純全，因為這些不過是關於飲食和各樣潔淨禮儀的外在規條，等新秩序的時代一到，便不再有效了。

若有人在基督裡，他就是新造的人，舊事已過，看啊，一切都更新了。

既然仿照天上的樣式所造的器具需要用祭牲的血來潔淨，天上的原物當然要用更美的祭物來潔淨。

你們從前與上帝隔絕，行事邪惡，心思意念與祂為敵；但現在上帝藉著基督肉身的死使你們與祂和好了，讓你們在祂面前成為聖潔無瑕、無可指責的人。

律法只是將來美事的一個投影，並非本體的真像，所以年復一年的獻祭不能使前來敬拜的人純全。否則，獻祭的事早已終止了，因為敬拜的人若獻一次祭就能徹底得到潔淨，他們就不再覺得有罪了。然而，每年獻祭的事都使人想起自己的罪來，因為公牛和山羊的血根本不能除去人的罪。所以，基督來到世上的時候曾說：「上帝啊，祭物和供物非你所悅，你為我預備了身體。你並非喜愛燔祭和贖罪祭。於是我說，『上帝啊，我來是要遵行你的旨意，我的事都記在聖經上了。』」基督首先說：「祭物、供物、燔祭和贖罪祭都不是你想要的，也不是你喜悅的。」這些都是依照律法獻上的。然後祂又說：「我來是要遵行你的旨意。」這樣，祂廢除了前者，為要設立後者。上帝的旨意是：耶穌基督只一次獻上自己的身體，便使我們永遠聖潔了。

弟兄姊妹，耶穌已用寶血為我們開闢了一條又新又活的路，使我們可以穿過幔子，就是祂的身體，坦然進入至聖所。
