Strangers will stand and pasture your flocks, And foreigners will be your farmers and your vinedressers.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace,

and saying,“ Men, why are you doing these things? We are also men, of the same nature as you, preaching the gospel to you, to turn from these useless things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything that is in them.In past generations He permitted all the nations to go their own ways;

to whom God willed to make known what the wealth of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles is, the mystery that is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to hold firmly to the hope set before us.

Therefore, concerning the eating of food sacrificed to idols, we know that an idol is nothing at all in the world, and that there is no God but one.For even if there are so called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords,yet for us there is only one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.

And everyone who has this hope set on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

“ This is what the Lord says:‘ If you can break My covenant for the day and My covenant for the night, so that day and night do not occur at their proper time,then My covenant with David My servant may also be broken, so that he will not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levitical priests, My ministers.As the heavenly lights cannot be counted, and the sand of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the descendants of My servant David and the Levites who serve Me.’ ”And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,“ Have you not observed what these people have asserted, saying,‘ The two families which the Lord chose, He has rejected them’? So they despise My people as no longer being a nation in their sight.This is what the Lord says:‘ If My covenant for day and night does not continue, and I have not established the fixed patterns of heaven and earth,then I would reject the descendants of Jacob and David My servant, so as not to take from his descendants rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But I will restore their fortunes and have mercy on them.’ ”

And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a depraved mind, to do those things that are not proper,people having been filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, and evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice; they are gossips,slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,without understanding, untrustworthy, unfeeling, and unmerciful;and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them.
