God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—

So he decided long ago to adopt us. He adopted us as his children with all the rights children have. He did it because of what Jesus Christ has done. It pleased God to do it.

he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,

He predestined us to be adopted as sons through Jesus Christ for himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

He predestined us to adoption as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

having foreordained us unto adoption as sons through Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

He predestined us to be adopted through Jesus Christ for Himself, according to His favor and will,

Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

He did this by predestining us to adoption as his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the pleasure of his will–

having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire,

Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.

For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.

God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children.And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out,“ Abba, Father.”

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him,“ Abba, Father.”For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.

For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us.

And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.

And not only for that nation, but to bring together and unite all the children of God scattered around the world.

God has now revealed to us his mysterious will regarding Christ— which is to fulfill his own good plan.

And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said,“ My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you.For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.”As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father?If God doesn’t discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children at all.Since we respected our earthly fathers who disciplined us, shouldn’t we submit even more to the discipline of the Father of our spirits, and live forever?

So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do.

“ I thought to myself,‘ I would love to treat you as my own children!’ I wanted nothing more than to give you this beautiful land— the finest possession in the world. I looked forward to your calling me‘ Father,’ and I wanted you never to turn from me.

“ Yet the time will come when Israel’s people will be like the sands of the seashore— too many to count! Then, at the place where they were told,‘ You are not my people,’ it will be said,‘ You are children of the living God.’

Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.

But before they were born, before they had done anything good or bad, she received a message from God.( This message shows that God chooses people according to his own purposes;he calls people, but not according to their good or bad works.) She was told,“ Your older son will serve your younger son.”In the words of the Scriptures,“ I loved Jacob, but I rejected Esau.”Are we saying, then, that God was unfair? Of course not!For God said to Moses,“ I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose.”So it is God who decides to show mercy. We can neither choose it nor work for it.

At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said,“ O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

Yet you say to me,‘ Father, you have been my guide since my youth.

All the people of the earth are nothing compared to him. He does as he pleases among the angels of heaven and among the people of the earth. No one can stop him or say to him,‘ What do you mean by doing these things?’

“ Don’t cling to me,” Jesus said,“ for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them,‘ I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

God, for whom and through whom everything was made, chose to bring many children into glory. And it was only right that he should make Jesus, through his suffering, a perfect leader, fit to bring them into their salvation.So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.For he said to God,“ I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise you among your assembled people.”He also said,“ I will put my trust in him,” that is,“ I and the children God has given me.”Because God’s children are human beings— made of flesh and blood— the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death.Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.

Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way!
