又按其旨、預定我儕由耶穌基督得為其子、

蓋天主秉其仁慈、隨其意之所悅預定吾人緣耶穌基督、得為天主之眾嗣、

he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—

So he decided long ago to adopt us. He adopted us as his children with all the rights children have. He did it because of what Jesus Christ has done. It pleased God to do it.

God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

He predestined us to be adopted as sons through Jesus Christ for himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

He predestined us to adoption as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

having foreordained us unto adoption as sons through Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

He predestined us to be adopted through Jesus Christ for Himself, according to His favor and will,

Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

He did this by predestining us to adoption as his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the pleasure of his will–

having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire,

In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,

For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying,“ Abba! Father!”

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry,“ Abba! Father!”The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,and if children, then heirs— heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,

And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”

The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

and not for the nation only, but also to gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.

making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ

And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons?“ My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him.For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live?

To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power,

“‘ I said, How I would set you among my sons, and give you a pleasant land, a heritage most beautiful of all nations. And I thought you would call me, My Father, and would not turn from following me.

Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or numbered. And in the place where it was said to them,“ You are not my people,” it shall be said to them,“ Children of the living God.”

For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.

though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad— in order that God’s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls—she was told,“ The older will serve the younger.”As it is written,“ Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God’s part? By no means!For he says to Moses,“ I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.

In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said,“ I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.

for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

Have you not just now called to me,‘ My father, you are the friend of my youth—

all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him,“ What have you done?”

Jesus said to her,“ Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them,‘ I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers,saying,“ I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.”And again,“ I will put my trust in him.” And again,“ Behold, I and the children God has given me.”Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.

yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.
