Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church:

If the whole[ were] hearing, where[ were] the smelling?But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.And if they were all one member, where[ were] the body?But now[ are they] many members, yet but one body.And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:And those[ members] of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely[ parts] have more abundant comeliness.For our comely[ parts] have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that[ part] which lacked:That there should be no schism in the body; but[ that] the members should have the same care one for another.And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so[ let] the wives[ be] to their own husbands in every thing.Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Wherefore[ ye] must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

[ There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond[ nor] free: but Christ[ is] all, and in all.
