All share a common destiny— the righteous and the wicked, the good and the bad, the clean and the unclean, those who offer sacrifices and those who do not. As it is with the good, so with the sinful; as it is with those who take oaths, so with those who are afraid to take them.

Everyone will die someday. Death comes to godly and sinful people alike. It comes to good and bad people alike. It comes to“ clean” and“ unclean” people alike. Those who offer sacrifices and those who don’t offer them also die. A good person dies, and so does a sinner. Those who make promises die. So do those who are afraid to make them.

It is the same for all, since the same event happens to the righteous and the wicked, to the good and the evil, to the clean and the unclean, to him who sacrifices and him who does not sacrifice. As the good one is, so is the sinner, and he who swears is as he who shuns an oath.

The same destiny ultimately awaits everyone, whether righteous or wicked, good or bad, ceremonially clean or unclean, religious or irreligious. Good people receive the same treatment as sinners, and people who make promises to God are treated like people who don’t.

那時，你們將再度看出義人與惡人之間的區別，事奉上帝者和不事奉上帝者之間的不同。

智者高瞻遠矚，愚人卻在黑暗中摸索。但我知道兩者終必有同樣的命運。於是，我想：「既然愚人的命運也將是我的命運，我有智慧又怎麼樣呢？我只能說，『這也是虛空。』」因為智者和愚人一樣，不過被人記得一時，日後都會被遺忘。兩者都難逃死亡。

因為，我認為都是一樣，純全無過的人和惡人都會被祂毀滅。

萬軍之耶和華說：「我要來到你們當中施行審判，速速作證指控那些行邪術的、通姦的、起假誓的、克扣工人薪水的、欺壓寡婦孤兒的、冤枉異鄉人的，以及不敬畏我的。

我看見狂傲的惡人亨通就心懷不平。

二人對她說：「要讓我們信守誓言，你必須這樣做，我們來攻佔這座城的時候，你要把這條朱紅色的繩子繫在縋我們下去的窗戶上，並且把你的父母、兄弟、姊妹和他們的親人都召集到你家裡。倘若有人因離開這房子跑到街上而遭遇不測，我們不負任何責任。我們一定保證屋內所有人的性命安全。如果你洩露我們的事，你要我們起的誓也就作廢了。」

最好是持守這個教訓也不放鬆那個教訓，因為敬畏上帝的人必避免兩個極端。

雖然罪人作惡多端仍得長壽，我卻認為敬畏上帝的人必亨通。然而，惡人得不到祝福，他們必像幻影一樣不能長久，因為他們不敬畏上帝。世上有一件虛空的事，就是義人遭受了惡人當受的報應，惡人卻享受了義人該享的福樂。我認為這也是虛空。

上帝把智慧、知識和喜樂賜給祂喜悅的人，卻讓罪人忙於積攢財富，然後把他們的財富賜給祂喜悅的人。這也是虛空，也是捕風。

探望喪家勝過參加宴席，因為死亡是每個人的結局，活著的人要把這事銘記在心。

他說：「這是臨到全天下的咒詛，因為書卷一面寫著『凡偷盜的必被清除』，另一面寫著『凡起假誓的必被清除』。」萬軍之耶和華說：「我要使這咒詛進入盜賊和奉我的名起假誓者的家，住在他們家裡，毀滅他們的家，不留一木一石。」

為何惡人活著，得享長壽，勢力強大？他們的兒孫圍繞膝前，他們得見後代茁壯成長。他們家中平安無懼，他們不被上帝杖打。他們的公牛繁殖力強，他們的母牛從不掉胎。他們讓孩童像羊群一樣走到戶外，盡情地歡跳。他們伴著鈴鼓和豎琴歌唱，在笛聲中歡喜不已。他們一生幸福，安然下到陰間。他們對上帝說，『離開我們，我們不想學習你的道。全能者是誰，竟要我們事奉祂？向祂禱告有何益處？』看啊，他們的幸福不在他們手中；因此，我決不苟同他們的想法。「惡人的燈何曾熄滅？災難何曾臨到他們？上帝何曾發怒使他們受苦？他們何曾像風中的碎稭，像被暴風捲去的糠秕？你們說上帝會把懲罰留給他們的兒女，我認為不如報應在他們本人身上，讓他們親自領教。願他們親眼看見自己滅亡。願他們喝下全能者的烈怒。因為他們的歲月一旦度盡，又怎會關心身後的家人？「上帝既審判身居高位者，誰還能傳授知識給祂？有人至死仍充滿活力，盡享平靖安逸。他營養充足，骨骼健壯。有人至死心中苦痛，從未嚐過幸福的滋味。二者都埋入塵土，被蛆蟲覆蓋。我知道你們的想法，並那些冤枉我的詭計。你們問，『權貴的房子如今何在？惡人住的帳篷今在何方？』難道你們沒有問過旅客，不接受他們的說法？就是惡人在災難之日得到倖免，在上帝發怒之日得以逃脫。誰會當面斥責他們的惡行，因其所作所為而報應他們？他們被抬入墳墓後，還有人看守墓地。他們在谷中的沃土安息，送葬的人前呼後擁，不計其數。你們的空談怎能安慰我？你們的回答純屬荒謬。」

他起誓降服，卻棄約背誓，所以絕不能逃避後果。因此，主耶和華說，『我憑我的永恆起誓，他既藐視與我所立的誓言，背棄與我所定的約，我必懲罰他。

我要你憑耶和華——掌管天地的上帝起誓，你不會找這迦南的女子做我兒子的妻子。

就算那人活了千年，又活千年，卻不能享受福樂，又如何呢？世人最終豈不都同歸一處嗎？

如今我們稱狂傲的人有福，因為作惡的人凡事順利，他們雖然試探上帝，卻仍能逃過災禍。』」

如果那女子不肯跟你來，你也算履行了你向我起的誓，只是你不可帶我兒子回那裡。」於是，老總管就把手放在他主人亞伯拉罕的大腿底下，為這事向他起誓。

他們在樹林中雖然看見有蜂蜜正在滴落，但沒有人敢伸手取蜂蜜吃，因為他們都怕違背誓言。
