我自言曰、智慧雖愈於勇力、貧者之智慧仍被人藐忽、不聽其言、

我就说，智慧胜过勇力；然而那贫穷人的智慧被人藐视，他的话也无人听从。

我就說，智慧勝過勇力；然而那貧窮人的智慧被人藐視，他的話也無人聽從。

我則曰、智愈於力、然貧者之智、為人蔑視、言不見聽、

我竊思之、智愈於力、貧者之智、為人藐忽、不從其言。

So I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength.” But the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded.

So I said,“ It’s better to be wise than to be powerful.” But people look down on the poor man’s wisdom. No one pays any attention to what he says.

But I say that wisdom is better than might, though the poor man’s wisdom is despised and his words are not heard.

So even though wisdom is better than strength, those who are wise will be despised if they are poor. What they say will not be appreciated for long.

And I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength, but the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are not heeded.”

So I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength.” But the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are ignored.

Then I said:“ Wisdom is better than strength. Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, And his words are not heard.

Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

And I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength, but the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are not heeded.”

Then said I, Wisdom[ is] better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom[ is] despised, and his words are not heard.

So I concluded that wisdom is better than might, but a poor man’s wisdom is despised; no one ever listens to his advice.

Then I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength.” Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

智慧使有智慧者、較邑中十有司有司或作豪傑更有能力、

智者有能、識者力強、

鞏固之城、勇士所守所倚賴者、惟智者可上而傾之、

至安息日、於會堂教誨、眾聞而奇之曰、此人何由而得此、賦之者何等智慧、致有若是之異能、自其手出、此非木工乎、非瑪利亞之子乎、非與雅各、約西、猶大、西門、為兄弟乎、其諸妹非與我比鄰乎、遂厭而棄之、厭而棄之原文作為之躓蹶

智慧愈於兵刃、一愚者愚者原文作罪人敗諸美事、美事或作嘉謀

富人貲財、如其堅城、貧人缺乏、常臨危境、

法利賽人曰、爾曹亦被惑乎、有司及法利賽人、有信之者乎、但此眾不識律法、實可詛也、

兄弟乎、觀爾蒙召者、以世俗而論、智者不多、能者不多、貴者不多、乃天主選世之愚者、以愧智者、選世之弱者、以愧強者、天主又選世之卑賤者、被藐視者、人所視為無有者、以廢世之有者、致無人得誇於天主前、

法利賽人復呼前為瞽者曰、爾當歸榮於天主、我知彼乃罪人、答曰、彼為罪人與否、我不知、有一事我知之、即我昔瞽而今能見、眾復問之曰、彼於爾何為、如何明爾目、答曰、我已告爾、爾不聽、胡欲再聽、爾曹亦欲為其門徒乎、眾詈之曰、爾乃其門徒、我儕則摩西之門徒、天主與摩西言、我所知也、若此人、我不知其何自、其人答曰、異哉此事、彼明我目、而爾不知其何自、我儕知天主不聽罪人、惟欽崇天主、而遵行其旨者、天主則聽之、亙古以來、未聞有人能明生而瞽者之目、此人若非由天主、則無所能為也、眾謂之曰、爾全身生於罪中、而反教我乎、遂逐之出、

若有人金環美服、入爾會堂、亦有貧者、敝衣而入、爾顧美服者曰、坐此高位、語貧者曰、爾且立於彼、或坐於此、我足凳下、豈非心中偏視人、而以惡念判別人乎、所愛之兄弟、聽之哉、天主豈非選此世之貧者、俾富於信、而嗣天主所許愛己者之國乎、爾竟辱貧人、富者非欺壓爾、曳爾至公庭乎、
