我則曰、智愈於力、然貧者之智、為人蔑視、言不見聽、

我就说，智慧胜过勇力；然而那贫穷人的智慧被人藐视，他的话也无人听从。

我就说：“智慧胜过武力”，但那个贫寒人的智慧被人轻视，他的话语也没有人再听从。

我就說，智慧勝過勇力；然而那貧窮人的智慧被人藐視，他的話也無人聽從。

我竊思之、智愈於力、貧者之智、為人藐忽、不從其言。

我自言曰、智慧雖愈於勇力、貧者之智慧仍被人藐忽、不聽其言、

So I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength.” But the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded.

So I said,“ It’s better to be wise than to be powerful.” But people look down on the poor man’s wisdom. No one pays any attention to what he says.

But I say that wisdom is better than might, though the poor man’s wisdom is despised and his words are not heard.

So even though wisdom is better than strength, those who are wise will be despised if they are poor. What they say will not be appreciated for long.

And I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength, but the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are not heeded.”

So I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength.” But the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are ignored.

Then I said:“ Wisdom is better than strength. Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, And his words are not heard.

Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

And I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength, but the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are not heeded.”

Then said I, Wisdom[ is] better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom[ is] despised, and his words are not heard.

So I concluded that wisdom is better than might, but a poor man’s wisdom is despised; no one ever listens to his advice.

Then I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength.” Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

智慧使哲人有能、愈於邑中十有司、

哲人有力、智者增權、

智者登勇士之城、敗其所恃之勢、

適安息日、訓於會堂、眾聞而奇之曰、斯焉得斯、所賦之智慧維何、有如是異能由其手而出耶、此非木工乎、非馬利亞之子、雅各約西猶大西門之昆弟乎、其姊妹非與我儕比鄰乎、遂厭棄之、

智慧愈於戰具、僅一罪人、能敗諸善、

富人之貨財、為其堅城之衛、貧者之窮乏、乃其敗亡之由、

法利賽人曰、爾亦為所惑乎、有司與法利賽人、有信之者乎、但此眾不識律、見詛矣、

兄弟乎、試觀爾曹奉召、依形軀為智為能為貴者無多也、乃上帝選世之愚者、以愧智者、選世之弱者、以愧強者、且選世之卑賤者、輕忽者、與夫無者以廢有者、使無人自誇於上帝前、

猶太人又呼素瞽者曰、爾宜歸榮上帝、我知斯人乃罪人也、曰、其為罪人與否、我不知也、惟知一事、即我昔瞽今見耳、眾問之曰、彼於爾何為、如何啟爾目、曰我已告爾、爾弗聽、何復欲聽之、爾亦欲為其徒乎、眾詬之曰、爾乃其徒、我儕摩西徒也、上帝諭摩西、我儕知之、但不知斯人奚自、曰、斯亦奇矣、彼啟我目、而爾不知其奚自耶、我知上帝不聽罪人、惟崇拜上帝而行其旨者、乃聽之、伊古以來、未聞有啟生而瞽者之目也、斯人若非由上帝、則無能為也、眾曰、爾通體生於罪中、反教我乎、遂逐之、○

爾之會堂、若有金環華服者入、亦有貧而惡衣者入、爾顧華服者曰、安坐於此、謂貧者曰、且立於彼、或坐我足几之下、豈非爾衷歧異、以惡念判別乎、我所愛之兄弟乎、聽之哉、上帝豈非選斯世之貧者、使富於信、而承其所許於愛己者之國乎、爾乃辱夫貧者、彼富者非挾制爾、曳爾至公庭乎、
